Cecilia [Quartet]

Lately, I've been doing a couple arrangements of pop tunes for exercise purposes. For fun
I've been asked to take this melody from Paul Simon and make a quartet out of it:

The main focus here is chord substitutions and counterpoint.
Towards the end, Cecilia sounds like she's been around for a long time, i.e. centuries.

Next arrangement will be a cinematic approach of yet another classic pop tune.

Oops!
I forgot to review this one until now o.O
Guess I'll fix that by dropping a really short one now :p

This is definitely interesting. It's easy to hear both the similarieties and differences to the original.
Most of this piece sounds fine, but there's something bothering me about the mixing. I guess this might sound a bit flat when it comes to the dynamic in volume, or something like that. At first this seemed a bit muddy too, but upon further listening, I'd say that is more of an illusion, as every intrument is actually pretty clear. I've heard this style being used other times as well, so you did a good job of achieving this specific sound.

Either way, awesome stuff you got here :p

Phonometrologist responds:

Sorry for the delayed response: been on a week long road trip.
This piece was done pretty quickly, and I spent more work on this in Sibelius for the different voice leadings more than I did working on it in my DAW. So I would agree about the flat dynamics, but that's okay since it is Midi. I'll just improve the production of it later if ever need be. Thanks for listening.
