Brothas & Sistas!

Hi there!

I was screwing around with shit on FL and came up with this. It's short, and simple, but in my opinion is the most pro sounding track I've made.

This could either be a WIP, or a completed track, I haven't decided. Tell me what you think :D

Listen to this loud, and with your subwoofers turned up!

Be warned, this track has no melody AT ALL, drums and vocals only :P

So, should I extend this or not? Let me know :)

Enjoy!

A little repetitive, but it could go somewhere

Getting yourself more vocal samples is the key here, as would be a little more variation in the melody (to me, that sounds pretty non-existent in the early going of the piece)

The pace is good, as is the beat. Combining them with something higher pitched and synth based would be the way forward, just to relieve the monotony of the piece. You cna change the melody, while leaving the bass the same. It makes such a difference to the dynamic of the track.

Pauses in the middle, to let people check that they are still alive, before launching off into another tirade is always another good thing to consider in the long run.

Dj-GST responds:

Yeah, I'll make a melody for it if I do a full mix.

Thanks fir the review.

Great bass, vocals get very repetitive

Wow, very intense drums here. The deep bass is really amazing and the glitched drum parts fit very well to it.

The vocals destroy the song a bit, imo. On the one hand it's nice to have some vocal samples in a song, but here it doesn't fit too well. Also, after about one minute, the "this is our government" gets really old. Later on the song you mess around with the vocals up to the point where it gets really annoying.
I think you should cut down on the samples a bit and concentrate on the amazing drums more instead.

Dj-GST responds:

Thanks.

The vocals say "Brothas & Sistas", which is why the track is named as such. I'll turn them down a bit, and vocode them, but I'm not gonna cut them down.

Thanks for the review.

Rapid

Drums are heavily rapid along with the whole beat. Somewhat reminds me of madness series but this song is really upbeat and insanely fast kind of like a rave song actually which it probably is to me anyways. The drums are excellent though.

The buildup and voice are nice and the overall flow of the beat is excellent, also reminds me of the minigame with Nolegs from Epic Battle Fantasy III. This song is just like ear candy to me anyways and sounds excellent. Not much else to say except for great job on a crazy upbeat and crazy tune here.

Overall, very good job.

Dj-GST responds:

Awesome man :D

Yeah, this does sound like a Rave track, in fact, that's what it is :P

Battle Fantasy III eh? I've never played that. I'll check it out.

Thanks man, glad you like it :D

Decent

The musical skill behind this is definitely there, I love the percussion. Throughout the entire song the percussion was well thought out and really interesting to listen to.

The vocals on the other hand honestly seemed a bit obnoxious. I honestly had to turn down the volume twice because I couldn't listen to the ear piercing yelling. It's far from melodic.

It's face paced, it's brutal, and without melody. The effects are great, and the drums are sick, but overall it's not something I'd ever listen to voluntarily. The effort and skill shine through, but I just found it a bit too extreme for my tastes.

The popping noises panned to the right channel at the end were awesome, and the idm elements throughout the song is what I liked the most. Overall though, I feel that this song would only really be appropriate when flying with a jetpack at full speed while firing a machine gun.

Dj-GST responds:

Sweet :)

Haha the vocals aren't weren't meant to be melodic, just to back up the drums a bit :P

Yeah, this style isn't for everybody.

Thanks, those popping noises are actually heavily vocoded and sliced vocals :) I totally agree with the jetpack thing :D

Thanks for the review man, if I make an extended mix I'll work on the vocals a bit.

...

The drums are obviously the center of this track, and it's good you made them have so much variation, otherwise this track would be extreamly dull.

I would suggest adding a supersaw lead, even if its just a simple repetitive melody, just to make this song not as repetitive, and add some cut off. :O

I would totally agree with you, this is your most professional track, and with minor adjustments, it might even make top five.

Btw, this doesn't really seem as Happy Hardcore, as industrial/jungle beat. haha. I dunno.

Great job man! :D

Dj-GST responds:

Haha yeah, it would :P

Yeah I'll add a melody, maybe not Supersaw, but yeah. I'll add some cut off :)

Top five!? Haha sweet :D

Nah, this is no where close to Industrial or Jungle, but I agree with you that it isn't Happy Hardcore. It sounds like an old Thunderdome track, so I'll change the genre to Rave.

Thanks man :D
