This was inspired by Jimmypig's awesome 'Just One Thought' song. Remove spaces: http://www.newgrounds.com /audio/listen/251689

Anyway, now that that's said, I need some help on this. It's my first attempt, and it only has piano and drums so far. If there's anyone who uses FL Studio and is good with strings and bass, please send me a PM or something; I really need some strings and bass for this song.

Anyway, this uses a LOT of drum samples I downloaded, and the FluidR3 GM soundfont (as usual...) for the piano.

In other news, I have a very awesome piano and drum song almost finished as well, but I won't be submitting that one for a long time.

Also, in case anyone's interested, this song is actually a V2. I was working on the V1, when suddenly my computer decided 'Oh, I haven't crashed for a while now. Better do something before my master thinks I'm actually useful' and gave me a nice long crash when I was about to drag one of my samples into the step sequencer. I went away from the computer, and when I came back, an hour or so later, it still wasn't budging. I had to close FL Studio, and ended up losing 5 hours of work. This is a slightly failed attempt to recreate what I had done before, which had much better beats, and much, much better melodies. Anyway, all in all, I named this song after my computer.

Admittedly, this isn't one of my best (actually among the worst of my recent submissions) but I decided to submit it just for the hell of it, maybe to get some kind soul giving me some good constructive criticism, or maybe PMing me to help me out in this. I hope you enjoy the song, and reviews are always appreciated: I respond to all reviews, and probably review back if the review is helpful.
Gah, long author's comments U_U.

Same things as in your last review except this track is a lot more pleasant since it's slower and less intense. Though that also makes it more boring. And wow it's loud as hell too.
Your tunes seem to be getting more sensible at this point. Routine techniques and a better sense of songwriting seems to be sinking in. That's good!

Step responds:

Haha this is so slow... but yeah my melodies start making a bit more sense here. But ugh I still can't believe how slow my improvement was from 2008 - 2009 :(.

Loud as hell is thanks to that limiter. I rememember that limiter always making lead synths drown out all my other background synths, so my solution to that was to turn the background synths UP. I used to turn volume knobs up to crazy amounts. I bet if I took the limiter off this, the song would explode.

Ugh Soundfonts lol

Here's a good example of beginner's lack of knowledge in the art of proper mastering. You can hear this when the bass drum hit's and momentarily drowns out the rest of the music. I was like this once... and unfortunately still am... :)

Soundfonts are ok for mock ups but you should really go for proper sound libraries even free one's (Namely EWQL, Vienna, Native Instruments etc)
If you msg me I'll send you a link of the ones I use (some of which are free)

Also you should be looking to add MANY more instruments, in fact what would be a good basic addition to this one would be lead and bass guitar (a little bass goes a long way).

Don't worry tho, everyone's been here before many of which also can't compose to save themselves. You have talent all you need is sounds that can keep up with that creativity.

Peace Out!

Step responds:

You're completely right. I limit myself to soundfonts since I can't afford any VST's. I may be lucky enough to get East/West Quantum Leap Symphonic Orchestra Silver version for Xmas, but that's only if I'm lucky. I definitely need more instruments as well, I was only training my piano harmonizing skills, which by the way, are horrible. Wish I knew how to master, then maybe I can fix that awful kick. Anyway, I'd really appreciate it if you send me some links to free sound libraries; thanks for the offer. Anyway, thanks for the helpful review!
