The Essence of Time V2

After getting some rather positive response on my older version of The Essence of Time, I decided to make a V2. Thanks to everyone who reviewed in my old version, especially Haggard, Fro, Coop83, CaptainAwesome121090, Darklight17, Oyajitchi-sama and Lublub194 who all provided me with as much constructive criticism a guy could ask for, and I wouldn't have know what to fix if it wasn't for them, and also thanks to the ones who fav'd and/or enjoyed my previous version.

Stuff Improved:
-Slightly less reverb on the whole song and a little more on the piano to remove the bluriness of the track overall and remove the dryness of the piano.
-Improved intro with a delayed piano, tremolo strings and a clock ticking in the background.
-More variety, especially concerning the part where the song gets more laid-back and slow.
-More melodies, including a piano solo somewhere in the middle.
-More percussion, including a gong and shakers instead of tambourines.
-A much better ending with a final chord, ritardando, gong, clock tick, and practically anything that makes a good ending :P.

I hope this sounds better than the original, and review are always very appreciated!

oh neat, some orchestral ish stuff. Um, yeah the first version of this was better I think. This doesn't sound like it has LESS reverb at all. And you have a bunch of terrible piano melodies, and you're also going off key occasionally here. The mix could be cleaned up so much by just laying off the damn reverb a bit. The percussion towards the end is kinda cool!
And hey, a ritardando. Trademark Step feature. Neat.

Step responds:

Really, a ritardando is one of my trademarks? That's pretty cool, hehe.

Yeah right now I can't be arsed to decide whether this one or the other version's better. At the time I thought this one beat the other one by a mile. But yes I did abuse reverb back then, just like anyone would after recently finding out what a mixer actually does... right? :(

Good improvements

I knew I reviewed "Essence of Time" before, but couldn't really remember what it was like. But as soon as the intro started I remembered the melody, so you've done a good job with that. The melody sticks in ones mind and has a high recognition value.

I had a quick listen to V1 again and I like the improved intro better. Now there aren't so many quiet moments anymore, the delayed piano works very well.

The solo in the middle is quite nice and gives this song a special touch. Also the new outro is better than the old one. You found a pretty good way to end the song. In my opinion good outros are even harder to create than good intros. ^^

However, sometimes it sounds as if the song is too loud, when more instruments play at once. Maybe that's just me, but I think a little tweaking to mix this a bit better is necessary.

Step responds:

Thanks a lot for reviewing, Haggard :D. I added loads of things to the intro, to make sure nobody would complain, lol :P. I'm glad you liked the solo, it was fun to make. I did add a lot of stuff at the end of the song too to make sure nobody would complain either XD. Anyway, about that loud thing, I think that'll be easy to fix. I just make a main automation pattern, or make a huge automation clip where the main volume goes lower when there are more instruments playing. That is, when I manage to convince my lazy self to go on FL Studio and fix it :\. Anyway, thanks again for the great review!
