Alright, it is so good to be back on fucking newgrounds! So this is a song that started on my acoustic bass. I started to record it(recorded with Ibanez SG 5 string and "Behringer" starter guitar w/ Ibanez distortion pedal into Cool Edit, sorry no drums yet) and decided it should be something of a song. Please be kind as I am not a guitarist and this is actually my first attempt to actually play one and record one. Also I have no drum program so yeah, no drums... But hopefully this will spur on some collaborations in the future. So to all those interested, it is in standard E, 110 bpms, and don't feed it after midnight or get it wet. Metal! Also, CHECK OUT the latest collab between myself and Eternalreich. Universal Collapse is the tune and it might give you a disease or epilepsy or something. Check it out! And please vote, just no zeros yet. Give other interested parties a chance to hear it please... Thanks, keep it fucking Metal...

Great melodies!

I havent heard anything this melodic on NG ever! Reminds me of some hybrid-Opeth shit. Distortion.....yeah......but I understand where youre coming from with it though! Great shit man! Keep this shit up!

MindOverMatt responds:

Thanks man, I usually find myself stuck in the diminished arpeggio realm but I try to break out of the box! And by the way, I love some fucking Opeth!!!!!!!! Keep it metal dude,
Matt

Cool.

I love the slide sounds of raw battered fingers on the strings as you switch around on the fretboard. Its one of my favorite sounds. I wish I had an acoustic. haha.

Sucks about the distortion, but It, at least paints the picture. :D

Rock on, man. And welcome the fuck back.

MindOverMatt responds:

THE BAD MAN!!!!!!!!!! Yeah, my nasty bass fingers make a lot of noise on the damn fret board. I wish I could get my acoustic bass to sound alright in recordings, but I had to go with the old electric once again. When's the Bad Man gonna send me some work, haha! And yeah, this whole guitar/distortion thing is a new mystery to me dude. I hope I'll get it figured out soon. Thanks for the welcome my Metal brother, I look forward to many more awesome collabs with ya man! When people stop by the house, it's a rule that they have to hear "Quiet Killings." Metal bro,
Matt

well

the ideas are pretty good. my only problems are that the distortion sounds...weird. like it doesn't actually stand out very much, especialy from the bass which i think is a bit too loud compared to the guitars. try making the guitars louder with more bass. my other problem was the fact that there were no drums, but hey you dont have a program for em, so no points off for that. If you'd like some suggestions about finding a good drum program, pm me.

4/5

MindOverMatt responds:

Yeah, definitely haven't got the guitar down by any means. But it was a fun attempt. But I appreciate your suggestions and would love to get with you on a drum program. In the future I think I'll definitely make guitars louder. Thanks for your help dude! Metal,
Matt

Hey man, glad you're back!

About time you showed your ugly face on here again! Lawl, j/k. But seriously, it's been too long.
This is a pretty cool tune; kinda chill, not all balls-out heavy like too many songs are now.
A suggestion regarding guitar tone - DON'T run a distortion pedal straight into a DAW and expect it to sound even decent. The only way you can get away with doing that is to run the distorted input through a cabinet impulse.
I don't know how well CoolEdit runs VST's, but if you can get it to, I'd recommend you download 'Voxengo Boogex Guitar Amp VST'. Just Google it, I can't link it here. It's got some internal impulses that actually sound pretty decent, and you don't have to download anything else.
If CoolEdit doesn't like VST's, download Reaper (again, Google). It's an excellent, very powerful DAW that is free until you feel like paying for it. I use it for everything I do, and it's never let me down.
If you need help getting any of that crap running, just shoot me a PM or IM me (twilightnecrosis). I'd be glad to help a fellow metalhead out.
Metal! \m/

MindOverMatt responds:

Hell yeah bro, thanks a lot for the help! I'll check that stuff out and hopefully come back with a slightly better product. Good to hear from ya again you Heavy Metal Bad Ass! We'll be in touch dude, thanks!
