No frills, just a 8-string keyboard guitar flip on a song I've been in love with since the second I heard it, which was like, some time in the 8th grade if I recall. I'm a creature of habit, as you'll see later on, but this song has inspired me for, what, a decade and a half now? God I feel old.

Nothing uber special here, but I had some kind of lower respiratory infection one day while I was still living in my old room on post. Think it was room 109, the one on the bottom floor of the barracks, with a 5 cubic foot alcove at the window I used as a nightstand, a desk, and sometimes a hidey hole to take a nap as the rays of the sun filtered through the forest behind. I was there for almost 3 years. It became my home.

But anyway, I was sitting in that alcove, listening to Ellie, when I got this idea -- slow it down, pitch it, and presto, ready to cover, but oh, I was so sick, my throat hurt. I couldn't do much besides clean vocals, and even then only a few takes. But I got it done. Still using the same box my brother had shipped my mic in with a bunch of socks and shirts and even a shapka ushanka (below) to turn the USB room mic I had into something besides utter suck.

Pretty sure this is the same shapka. I don't miss it. It was itchy, and Cali doesn't get nearly cold enough to wear that kinda stuff -- but it makes a damn good eyeball shield in a pinch.
