Fantastic expressive performance, with a heavy melody driven emphasis to make it easily to follow along. Your piece itself is emotional, immersive, balanced in form, and enjoyable to listen!
A little piano improvisation that I touched up slightly. Inspired by watching the news, war, etc.
For the ambiance, not the beauty.

You make very nice music! I'm glad you found those qualities to this piece, coming from a fellow piano player it adds its own weight of meaningfulness. I like the way it came out, even without much polishing or complexity, it's less structured than if I'd have gone for a composition, but it's raw emotional output without afterthoughts, so it could hardly be more authentic! I was honestly very skeptical about how others would appreciate it. Your comment means a lot to me!
Thank you very much!
The use of the low register is brilliant. The sustain and reverb create a gorgeous rich dissonance, and you give it plenty of time to flourish with breaks in the playing. It’s like the pad of dissonance is its own instrument responding to the piano phrases.
I’m also an avid news watcher and find a lot of world events disturbing. This composition captures that well.
I went for these soft dissonant repeated notes exactly to "materialize" a drone pad, or literally drones. I'm really glad you noticed and appreciated it! It represents an underlying source of anxiety that sticks even in the calm moments. Descending chaotic melody representing despair, dismay, chaos. Then the heavy notes accompanying it are the traumatic events, the detonations, the sudden losses. The resonance during the long silences inspire me all of those who left Earth too soon, screaming in a muffed, silenced but perceptible voice "stop the insanity!".
I was not sure how this quite chaotic and dissonant improvisation would be received since it's unusual, not rhythmic or melodic. Being appreciated by a skilled and talented composer is always a balm to the heart.
Thank you very much for your review!
Amazing improvisation!
Most songs that use such a lower register of the piano sound horrible, but this doesn't. It actually sounds very expressive.
This feels like a nightmare that quickly shifts from one terrifying image to the next. The lower piano really evokes those images to me.
I am seriously impressed that this tune which perfectly captures the dark atmosphere of Autumn was something you, basically, improvised. You clearly have a lot of talent.
Great job!

If it sounds horrible, it's a good thing! As in nightmarish of course :)
I was inspired by watching a bit too much of news lately, with war and all I had a hard time to create something with beauty in mind, so I've let darker inspiration take over for this one.
"Nightmare that quickly shifts from one terrifying image to the next" is also a good way to describe what the news are made of these days. I'm glad this improvisation inspired you this way, because it was exactly what I was trying to express.
Thank you very much for the kind words!
