Quick Story:

Touhou 8 sure has many cool themes and this one I wanted to make my own version of for a long time now.

As I was listening to Touhou Eurobeat on mass I initially aimed at creating something with lots of action. Obviously it wouldn't be eurobeat because A) I'm not from A-One etc. and B) I'm not a vocalist and likely never will. But something in that direction.

And remember when I said in my last description "hopefully sooner than later"?

Yeah. Just pretend as if I never said these words. Even I couln't belive just how much of a stretch this would become. Even more than my previous project where I'd even had less of an idea what to do.

How is this possible? Why had it taken me 5 months to get this one done?

The first and easily most significant reason is: I'm on a study programm. Just as I finished the last work I began studying and that obviously takes a lot of time and energy. Now to be fair, sacrificing my time in FL-Studio did pay off. I managed to pass all my first exams swiftly and get lots of time to spare afterwards (Woohoo!). I used this time to finally get finished. See there: I did it!

The second reason however was lack of a concrete vision. I had a brought direction, but I just could find a satisfying way to follow it. To a point where I just cleared the whole project two times beginning from scratch. You have no idea how timeconsuming creative work can be. Now I did eventually applied a method that does allow to expand the art a bit more efficiently. It basically relies on having one core idea and expanding on it through experimenting. Do that with multiple cores you eventually connect them ending in a whole. Not ideal but it did hepl me after the first main sequence.

Though this will still leave questions unresolved. Mainly due to my third reason: I probably overdid it a little. Now the song's density does have a purpose. See: I classify songs based on the feelings they create. And one such classification is the distinction between "alone" and "crowded". "Crowded" was my initial aim for this one. Since it's meant to be actionpacked this makes sense. But it's undoubtably more difficult to make simply because you have to have to fill up your art with more stuff. A lead, bass and drums just aren't enough. And this can cause into either having the song feelling not full enough or to messy. Finding a balance is an art (or science) and based on how clear your vision is this can be harder or impossible.

Anyway, how's the end result? Don't know if I'm fair. After all: it's been 5 months and I stated becoming desperate of what to do. I'm feeling as if lot's of that time went into waste and likely it could have be completed more swiftly.

Excluding this however I think it works very well. It's not perfect, but who cares. I'm just a simple man somewhere out in this world who likes mixing and I think I manage to surpass most of my peers.

The fun about mixing is trying to express yourself in a unique way. When listening to all the volumes of Touhou-Eurobeat-Project-Zero I kind of hear mostly the same (mostly due do very frequent usage of the same samples). My work is different even if to messy at the end (and at some point screwed by Fl-Studio f*cking up proccesing, ugh!).
