Details:
This is my first attempt of creating an original mix. It aims at combining various elements from verious genres into one to create wide contrasts. All without having a clear goal. At least in the direction sense.
You don't know where this one'll go.

Quick Story:
It is common for beginners to start their music mixing with redoing other people's work with their own ideas. At least that's what I did. Hence I don't oppose such an approach. Art is freedom. Giving new shape to an already existing workpiece can be very creative and the pieces I listen to fit this definition about 9 times out of 10.
But there is this one step futher. The attempt of creating a piece that's truely unique. An original work. A new essence.
I did not intent on starting with such an approach right away (Instead doing remixes) but nonetheless, I always aimed at creating this sooner than later. And now it's here. Unknown Journey.
Ever since I finished Rainbow In The Sky I immidietly started working on this project. I was quite hyped.
Though there was problem right from the beginning: what do I want to create?
I had an idea of combining various genres into one but that simply wasn't enough for a coherent whole.
Turns out an original work (or really juist about any work) isn't something you can just create on demand. As I said in my description under Dream Battle X: good ideas come up to you. This is also why I can't understand how an artist can be a full-time job.
And that's where the production would start to drag on. It was a complete journey into the unknown (hence the title). Even from just creating the melody. Oh boy, that was a lot of trial and error. And then there was the third section. It's what I aimed to be the dubstep section and this was such a drag to make.
Now the project wasn't only stalled out because of the lack of direction. My life's currently going through a lot of change and that demands my precious commitment as well.
But my point is: having no clear indication of what your endresult is supposed to sound like is not a good condition for beginning your work.
As time went on the project became more and more frustrating. Not that it wasn't from the beginning but about a week before completion I it ended up in borderline desperation.
But failure isn't an option.
I use to say.
I wanted to have this done and as you can see: i finally have. Even if an element turned out to be a massive hurdle simply working at it eventually made resulted in it being completed. Though I have to admit that I rushed the last half (which was probably the easiest part) in about a week just to get it done.
Am I satisfied with the result?
Eh. I have mixed feeling. Don't know if I'm to harsh with myself. I certainly like the parts. But I not sure about the whole. I can say that the parts inspired me for other ideas and maybe you'll recognize them in my future works.
But because this was such a hustle to make and because, let's be real, a genre mix iwth 6 different elements where each element only gets a fraction to shine is not exactly a brilliant idea you'll never hear anything similar to this one ever again.
I came to the conclusion that less sometimes is more. But it's an interessting experiment nonetheless.

You'll hear from me hopefully sooner than later.
For my next project I actually have an idea. A great idea!
Also: what genre is this?
And what section you find the best?
