The Hunt (Hardcore Version)
Lyrics + vocal arrangement: Sean Lang
Music composed by : Roy Goldschmitz
Song produced (incl. samples & effects) by : André C. Kalipke
André : Unplanned circumstances led to Sean and me spontaneously embracing the situation and recording "The Hunt" a "bit differently" than usual. I think it's very well done. :) This re-recording of Roy's song was made after his departure from the band. So he was never able to hear it, unfortunately.
Sean : This was the result of unexpectedly getting different, unknown sounds when playing back the instrumental track of "The Hunt" (track 05). We decided to go with it and added vocals to this abridged version in 11/92. We also did a new version of "Be Free" (track 02) this way.
(Please also read the author comments of "The Band Introduces Itself" (vocal and recording quality, etc.)...). Lyrics - see below.
THE HUNT (HARDCORE)
Everything has turned still in the city centre
The darkness around there - it dares you to enter
The perilous world that's ought to be found there
Where the days are night and the rules are unfair
Last light flickers out upon the evening skyline
You've got no time left now to ask yourself just why
Cause the shadows fall down on the inner city
The hunt has begun and they won't take no pity
The footsteps behind you - they march faster and faster
Ever nearer approaching - don't you know what they're after?
The reckoning hour - it will all come too soon
The goodness within prepares to meet its doom
The hunt has begun - it's time, it's time to run
No time, no time to be scared - you'd just better beware
Shadows are limping somewhere next to you
The fear of defeat's still burning inside
You're so helpless now - the worst thing of all
Robs your soul and steals your pride
You cry out in vain - express your pain
As slowly you seem to just go insane
No reason to question the motives they have
The only thing left to do is to hide
Don't fall behind now - they'll get you somehow
They'll give you reasons to praise and abide
While people enraged - what's it all about?
So many victims give a reeling shout
