On August 22nd 2021, the night of our 100th full moon together, I proposed to Eva with this song, a mixture of my 2 musical personalities with influences from her favourite musicians too. She said YES! WOOOOOT!
Written, performed and produced by Nick Standing [Jabun]
Recorded, mixed and mastered at JabunAudio by Nick Standing

A huge thanks goes out to Eva for being my everything buddy and now fiance, all her support during the ups and downs throughout the years, and for letting me share this track with you all. It was made for her ears but I hope you enjoy it too!
Thank you also to everyone else who's been a part of my musical journey and our relationship all these years so far too: all our family and friends, everyone who's played the music and spread the word, and my closest regular supporters on Patreon with special mention to the top tier contributors Michael White and Nathan Puray! We couldn't have got this far without all your support and I'm super excited to see (and hear) what comes next! My love to you all and thanks so much!

First met at university
We were both dressed up as characters from Bleach
You were Nanao; I was Renji
A cosplay bar-crawl though I didn’t drink
And the start of a great friendship
Between two fun-loving anime geeks
Kept in touch after I’d graduated
All those letters stamped and dated
That I waited for excitedly
’Til one day you asked to meet in London
Said you had feelings for someone
Never thought it could be me
Oh what an adventure
We’ve been on together
Let’s keep going forever
And things just get better
I want to live each day
Like it’s now or never
Fold a paper crane for every good time
Just want to be right here by your side
And I don’t need anything more
You make my heart ignite
Clear as the full moon shines so bright
You were all I was ever searching for
Been under the same roof for five years or more by now
When I first moved out to live with you
What a dream come true
And our flat stank of pigeon poop
Living on a quid a day each for food
No hot water but I had you
Great memories of Herne Bay
And our brief time in Margate
Then headed north to Rotherham and Pudsey
And I know we’ve had a few fights
And I’ve sworn at you a few times
But it’s been the best life
Oh what an adventure
We’ve been on together
Let’s keep going forever
And things just get better
I want to live each day
Like it’s now or never
Fold a paper crane for every good time
Just want to be right here by your side
And I don’t need anything more
You make my heart ignite
Clear as the full moon shines so bright
You were all I was ever searching for
You were all I was ever searching for
You were all I was ever searching for
You were all I was ever searching for
You were all I was ever searching for
You were all I was ever searching for

AMAZING SINGING, THAT TRUMPET HOOK IS SO INCREDIBLE! WOW WOW WOW!
Thanks so much! Not sure if you saw in the description, but this was actually the song I made to compose to my (now) fiance! It did the trick XD
:O
so cheery and happy but also rockin' and rollin'. very full sounding, guitar licks are friggen sick. you must've busted your butt on this song. very very very well done. :) :) :) :) :)
keep making sick as fuck songs yo
Ah cheers FoD! Thanks so much and happy you enjoyed it! Indeed it was one of the trickier songs to do, mostly trying to make sure Eva didn't catch me recording or mixing it XD And you keep up the great work too! All the best :)
And here with the lyrics too! :) This really was on a different tier than the regular somehow. I wonder if there's an element that comes with the intention itself or if it's just undergone an insane amount of polish to feel this wholesome, details like that impressively well integrated guitar solo towards the end, that subtle melody in the backround that I can't really separate enough from the rest of the track to ascertain the instrument behind, the brass of course, the harmonies... awesome work on this! So rich and vibrant. Hard to pinpoint where the perfection lies. It starts off right away too, no lost time anywhere along the way.

Cheers CD! Interestingly, I have a policy when giving musical gifts to not use any pitch or elasic-audio timing correction (chops are fine), so there's actually zero of that in here (I use it occasional for small fixes in my own and client work when needed, but certainly try not to overuse it)! There is an unashamed about of chopping up takes to find the best bits though, and man oh man was it difficult to record this during these pandemic times when Eva was in the house most of the time! SOOO much planning!!! XD I think the intention does give it something extra, but I'm super pleased with the production and performance on it too. Really does feel like my best work so far IMO. Happy you enjoyed it too!
Please contact me if you would like to use this in a project. We can discuss the details.
