When the pandemic shutdowns first happened, I wasn’t phased. “Things will pass soon,” I thought. Boy, was I wrong.

More than a year later, I’ve realized how much the pandemic has taken a toll on everyone’s physical and mental health. Weeks went by where I fell into a never-ending cycle of doom-scrolling and feeling hopeless.

People say that we’ll return to normal someday, but I don’t think so. It feels like the world has been permanently changed. I can’t help but feel sad for all the lives lost. Even though I’ve gotten my vaccine, I can’t help but feel scared that I’ll still get sick. I’m realizing that we live in a world where the unpredictable happens, and that’s just the way it is.

I wrote this song to help me accept the new world we’re living in, and to help me grieve for the old days we aren’t ever getting back.
