In a couple months, I’ll be leaving San Francisco to start a new chapter. I haven’t told anyone except my family and a few close friends.
The SF bay area has been my home for the majority of my life. I love the year-round sweater weather and the numerous beaches surrounding our little peninsula. I’ve made so many memories here, from childhood to adulthood.
Over the past year, I’ve also realized how increasingly difficult it is to live here. Soaring rent expenses and the lack of a musical community haven’t inspired me to stay. But there’s something else that gave me a firm push to leave.
Many of you guys know that I went through a breakup in 2019. You guys might be thinking: “Why are still talking about your breakup? Aren’t you over it yet?” Truthfully, I’m doing a lot better than I was before. However, I haven’t overcome one of the most difficult things about a breakup, which is learning to be alone.
I met my ex in San Francisco. We hiked the hilly trails together, walked the ocean beaches together, and shopped the grocery stores together. When I started doing these things alone, I realized how much I missed his presence. I still find myself walking slightly to the left in a shopping aisle, instead of down the center.
When the coronavirus hit, everything spiraled downward for me. I felt completely alone and lost in the home I grew up in. It summoned the worst anxiety and depression I’ve dealt with in my life. So I decided I needed a change.
I’m pretty much packed and ready to leave when it's safe. But before I leave, I wanted to share with you guys a little song I wrote. This is everything that I’ve felt over the past year, and a bittersweet goodbye to a place I called home.
Thank you guys so much for listening. I love you all so much.

Rosendale - goodbye, san francisco (Lyric Video)
Written, recorded and produced by Brian Wang
Guitar accompaniment by Jason Pitts
=====
Lyrics:
You were my king
Our twenties were gold
But now that you said you don’t want me no more
I guess that I should take back all these words
You took the pots
I took the pans
They were a set
I don’t understand
Why you had to ruin something good
But I still see you everywhere I go
Out for coffee at the store
All the places that we called ours
You’re the street where stone and ocean meet
Rolling waves across the sea
It hurts too much to be here all alone
So I’m saying goodbye goodbye goodbye to San Francisco
I’m saying goodbye to all the things I used to know
I’m saying goodbye goodbye goodbye to San Francisco
I know that it’s time to let you go
Ooh
Ooh
I’m saying goodbye to all the things I used to know
Ooh
Ooh
I know that it’s time to let you go
I tried to meet
All your demands
Thought we were set but you had other plans
Now I’m left here hanging by a rope
My friends are all married
Their money keeps growing
While I’m counting pennies
My furniture sold
‘Cause losing you I knew I never could afford
So I’m saying goodbye goodbye goodbye to San Francisco
I’m moving away to somewhere nobody will know
I’m saying goodbye goodbye goodbye to San Francisco
Sometimes that’s just how the story goes
Ooh
Ooh
I’m saying goodbye to all the things I used to know
Ooh
Ooh
I know that it’s time to let you go
So I’m saying goodbye goodbye goodbye to San Francisco
I’m saying goodbye to all the things I used to know
I’m saying goodbye goodbye goodbye to San Francisco
I know that it’s time to let you go

Wow I have to say this one gave me a tear because the words are deep and it really touched me because for some reason I just found your tune while reviewing and it kinda hit me in my moment so thank you for such a beautiful song wish there was a video with this, I for sure want to check out more of your work soon, but as for this one, I will say that I have had some fun reviewing it, You really bring out the talent and it shows, Again you have made this reviewer enjoy what you have and made an iconic piece that will be remembered as a great jamming tune, for ages so do make more jamming styles like this one and would love to hear much more.
