2006
MC Lars performed on Fistral Beach as apart of Boardmasters surf contest thing. Coolest guy ever, super nice, chatted to him for ages about music, production stuff etc. I had just made a set of binaural mics and bootlegged the whole gig, so I gave him a copy and got permission to share it from him there. We got talking some more and he was keen to hear what I was making, but because he's on tour he didn't really have any internet access at all so like, a CD or something! I didn't have my EP on my recorder, nor a CD on me at the time neither, but my friend who drove us there had a copy in his car which was parked a mile away. Huge, mad dash to his car, I was running across the cliff top landing in all the puddles, "I need to give this guy my fucking EP"!
A month or so later, MC Lars sent me a message on MySpace to say how nice it was to chat for so long and that he loved the EP, but he gave me some great advice that it needed vocals or something to lift it. I banked this advice as I later took these demos to Brighton and formed a short lived post-punk band, Son of Robot, where the songs were fleshed out with a full band and some shocking shite/light-hearted lyrics (mostly nipples and stuff - of its time)!
