Not long after I started making music, maybe a year or so after, someone told me that my song Knights of the Desert was their favorite. At the time, I thought it was far from my best, so this really surprised me. I remember listening to it almost immediately after that, but didn't hear it in any new light. It still sounded the same to me. All I heard was the things I didn't like and how much it lacked.
But the comment stayed with me. I would occasionally remember, and go listen to it. As I did that, I came to realize perhaps what he meant, or maybe not, that there was something special about that song. When I first started on it, I started in FL Studio, but it was the trial version, so I couldn't save. I was never able to replicate what I had in FL in Ableton, so I always felt like I wasn't doing the song justice, that there was so much potential I failed to unlock. That song had potential.
Fast Forward to about a week or two ago, when I was working on FN Ma_ch. One night, after working on it, I went straight to bed. As I was laying in bed, it was playing in my head, somehow in my sleepiness it got confused with Knights of the Desert. In that moment, it was all laid out before me. I saw the drums in the intro, followed by the acid bass and so on. And so I did it.
