I am doing Artfight this year for the first time so I have been making reference sheets for some of my characters. This one is for Red Hornet, a human turned machine, in a setting of mine currently called "Flourish". Flourish explores the concept of identity, and what makes a person who they are. Many characters are faced with conflicts surrounding the quest for self-actualization in the face of others' perceptions. Red Hornet is no different, afraid of if she even is who she once was.

Once Amanda Thorn, in the year 2170 she would meet her end in combat against the alien forces of the zealous Skall on Mars. Her final thoughts stored in the exoskeletal combat suit she once wore called Red Hornet, which was neurologically uplinked to her body to act as maritime protection and mechanical muscle, she would find herself awake once more without things we take for granted like basic proprioception & genuine emotion. Now she is battered with the existential question of whether she is the restored consciousness of her former human self, or a mechanical approximation made as a mockery of life. She fights on still to repel the encroaching eldritch forces seeking to impose their will upon the Earth, alongside her found family in the Nautilus Dispatch.
