Had this idea for a while, because every 2000s contemporary-set cartoon with teenage protagonists <i>needs</i> a scene or episode at the mall, shopping for things. Though in this case, Shiver, Frye and (Little) Big Man go to the plaza in Eeltail Alley, catching up on what happened during their day at school, with their designs from that one Splatfest artwork [https://cdn.wikimg.net/en/splatoonwiki/images/8/87/S3_Splatfest_artwork_Shiver_vs._Frye_vs._Big_Man.jpg] (hence why Big Man is small)

I originally wanted to use the Arowana Mall as the setting, but it wouldn't really fit, also the fact that Splatlandians rarely leave their location hence why Deep Cut hasn't been to Inkopolis much. The Barnacle and Dime also seems too new of a location, so I opted for the little row of shops seen in the Tricolor Battle of Eeltail Alley. Just like with the previous drawing, I didn't want to make it 100% accurate, so the characters are fully seen and it's difficult to get references for that unreachable area.

Since I made Shiver the spotlight of the last Deep Cut piece, I thought it was Frye's turn; this time talking to her other school friends via a -flip-phone-, and Shiver acting has her guard in the event of bullies approaching. I noticed that when looking at the Splatfest artwork for references, they looked a bit too tall in comparison to their key artwork and renders so I made them slightly shorter. I was debating whether to add a "flashback" vignette to this because I didn't have any references from cartoons that had that trope to take notes from. I didn't add it because it'd cover most of the outer detail.

I'm proud of how this came out...the poses and background...even if I may have made a mistake or two, it looks really good. The simplistic shading in the buildings really show it is set after school, specially in the afternoon-evening time of day rather than the cliché unrealistic orange sunset in anime.
