I painted this in art class a while ago and since it’s been a long time since I posted due to many reasons, I figured I’d show this since I am pretty proud of it. It’s supposed to represent the duality of perspectives of people who endure things in their lives, one side we have someone who is deeply troubled and is around people with fake smiles, showing off people’s tendencies to hide their problems behind fake masks and saying “It’s okay” when in reality they’re aren’t. The broken mask next to the grave represents “people who couldn’t fake it anymore” to put it very lightly & in the general the left hand side is like a fake mask in itself because even though everything looks alright and it’s sunny, there are still black, stormy clouds that hang over the land and vultures who pick apart people one layer at a time, slowly making them more despondent towards everyone and everything. On the right hand side however, we have a person who seems more comfortable with their lives and is in a place of beauty despite the night being stereotypically associated with ominous vibes and bad energy. The flowers are supposed to represent how they have a renewed sense of energy and how even though life isn’t perfect, they still try to carry on. The reason why I chose to paint it like this is because I wanted to show off how both sides are part of the same coin and how when we grow up, we are shaped by our experiences causing us to go in either direction depending on how we face the situations presented to us. I also painted both sides in the morning and night to also show that just because the sun and moon are associated with either mysterious vibes or refreshed energy, that can also depend on perspective. I hope you all like this piece, I worked pretty hard on it and I’m also sorry for the lack of uploads, a lot of stuff has been going on and I haven’t been feeling like drawing.
