I think by now you know what this drawing is based on. According to the sophisticated and brilliant musical lyrics of the members of Rammstein, the song called Alter Mann rings out like a bell. But specifically I based this drawing on the 1994 Demo that they played in some live concerts and a rare studio recorded version that, thanks to the fans, can be found today on the internet.

Der Alter Mann (or by its translation “The Old Man”) is the personification of the consequences of time itself on us and what surrounds us, in a chillingly philosophical and existential way. Even if you have an enviable youth now, after going through countless achievements, stories and adventures throughout your life, everything will fall of its own weight. Yes, you! You will end up tired, wrinkled and useless. What you once knew, even loved, will disappear from the face of the earth, and will only be alive in your memory, even on the day of your inevitable and sad death. Nevertheless, it is the law of nature, is it not...?

I would like to ask you two favors; one is that if you are lucky enough to still have your grandparents, talk to them and spend time with them, listen to all their interesting anecdotes and keep them in your hearts. Listen to all their interesting anecdotes and keep them in your hearts, make the most of them, right now! And number two; catch those moments that happen around you, don't let them slip away, because if you do, you may miss a good moment that will remain forever somewhere in the universe, repeating itself over and over again, until the end of time.
