The further down we travel the Anea-strip the more intense we notice it broadcasting it's waveforms. Them appearing to induce a sort of Thesian flux (i.e ship of Theseus paradox) for energy and matter. Described as "Anea-static" waves. They come in viral and non viral forms. Both affecting energy, but one affecting organic matter, and the other non-organic matter. On a molecular level though both do the same, just one does it slower than the other to certain types of compounds.
We can view the Vacuous plane as being these waves at a Thesian equilibrium. The Soma Region at 50% transmission - or incomplete transmission and the Grift being at 25%.
When it comes to life forms; during the initial phases of being exposed to a viral Anea-static wave, as described in the 2nd panel. Exposure seems to mimic that of known diseases. However psychologically speaking, these effects may also cause déjà vu, depersonalization, blurred vision. - And a fourth effect that causes all information the observer receives to induce that of - the feeling of the uncanny valley.
Strangely, between the initial phase and second stage of exposure, very thoughts are able to speed up the rate of the aforementioned thesian flux. With it creating cognition hazards in it's host - while the observing force continues existing. It noticing a sort of jumbling within it's consciousness. As if the Anea-strip is attempting to intercept and distort the very thoughts of it's hosts to amplify and match that of it's waveforms.
The second stage is where matter change begins to take place on an external level. Something important of note is that foreign entities not originating from the Anea-strip cannot become a Grit-Invader.-but can Become a Glutamartian or Somatic Satelite. Grift invaders being limited to non-sentient objects. Or assumedly any matter that is not near life-related-energy. Perhaps this is why so many Grift Invaders seem to resemble the technology of the Overworld. As the energy in said appliances would allow it to spread easier.
