If we think of the Anea-strip like a Klein bottle, the Grift acts almost like a living cork a top it. Described by some travellers as a Sentient-parabolic-CPU for the Anea-strip. It seems to be the origin point of Grift-Invaders, simple entities unable to amplify the frequency of the Anea-strip but rather a warning that a collection of Somatic Satellites - or a Vacuous Tear may be near. The Grift seems to perceive- or rather collects -data from other locations, via the signals made by technology. So while it may not access files on our computers or pictures on cameras. Anything signal sent via a radio or something sent via the internet it may. Which could explain as to why so much of its terrain seems to be elusive of offices or work spaces.

Interestingly I don’t believe the Anea-strip is evil or has some kind of a agenda, as mentioned in the Soma-Region panel it seems to operate more like a virus. It doesn’t have malice or hunger towards carbon life. It simply carrys out its business, inconsequential of the well being of 3D life.
