Through forcible data uploads and brainwashing, the Decepticon now known as Nemesis Prime was imbued with memories and skills culled from many sources, giving him much of Optimus Prime's knowledge and combat algorithms. This, however, cost him not just his sense of identity, but also any framework with which to process this knowledge. His creator having since perished, Nemesis Prime became a threat to all, skulking in the shadows of Cybertron, murdering Autobot and Decepticon alike.
Happy Robot Day 2020! You knew ya boy was gonna get in on this action.
As somebody who's a sucker for edgy evil versions of Transformers characters, it should be obvious that I love Nemesis Prime. He's got a wide variety of inacarnations to pick and choose from, most of which are pretty awesome. But those who recognize the design I drew will know it's one of the incarnations that isn't pretty awesome.
It is, of course, the design from Transformers: the Last Knight. A movie so bad that I can't even describe it. It's fucking unreal.
This design debuted in the previous movie, Transformers: Age of Extinction. And that was where all redeeming qualities of the Bayformers movies quickly started to evaporate. One of the less noteworthy problems is the robot designs.
While the idea of Optimus taking the form of a giant robotic knight is really awesome on paper, and quite fitting in terms of Optimus' overall character(that being an honorable and heroic leader figure), the movie design completely flubs it. Because he doesn't look like Optimus Prime as a knight. He looks like a big robot knight with some Optimus Prime colors painted on him. The design is too organic and smooth, and aside from the smokestacks on his back, there's no hint that he transforms into a truck.
So, the design is already shit. But Nemesis Prime is a badass design, right? The color scheme of black with red and sea green details is striking, and iconic. In the movie, Optimus is mind-controlled into becoming Nemesis. If nothing else, I figured having a giant, robotic black knight Nemesis would look pretty cool.
TLK's version of Nemesis Prime is Optimus with purple eyes and a red stripe on his face.
I cannot understate how aggressively underwhelming that movie is.
So, I took the design and did what I could with it.
Hope you get something out of it! Happy Robot Day!
