Silent Hill… the place where it’s up to debate whether it still exists or not.
Heaven’s Night, 3:33am
20”x10” acrylic + UV acrylic on canvas
-Projected memories of a distorted time space in the gloom of a job well done
Flat, warm ale to decompress from the blinding heat of the light
Serenaded by the neon chorus that buzzes and hums
Closing time was eons past, embrace the dark of the night-
I started this painting in 2020, but worked on it extremely infrequently and ultimately shelved it to finish later. I didn’t realize how close it was to being done when I picked it back up recently, so I put about twelve more hours into it adding details and touch-ups until I was satisfied. This is my fourth painting inspired by Silent Hill 2, taking place in Heaven’s Night, a nightclub located in South Vale, Silent Hill. It generally goes without saying that Silent Hill 2 is a masterpiece, excelling in atmosphere, emotion, and storytelling, and Heaven’s Night is a wonderful little capsule that embodies these traits, despite how briefly you’re actually in the building. Despite this, the music of Heaven’s Night tends to keep me there, chilling in the soft glow of the neon lights. I would later work there as a bartender, and often times would stay after-hours, just sitting in a booth with a pint of ale to see me off into the night. Times were tough, but at the time, I found more peace there than I did at my own home.
(NG gets this two hours early so that the submission time can be 3:33am lololololol)
