Character Sheet: Max Vanguard (Armor)

Share

A character sheet for something I've always had an idea for, but never nailed down with specifics. So here it is now, Max in his powered-up, armored form!

@Qwuazzi and I have been watching Power Rangers: Dino Thunder together for a while. I'm not saying that it made me draw the suit the way I did, but it definitely had a hand in the creative process.

To be fair, I was always planning to have Max's armor be influenced by Power Rangers, and other tokusatsu(the film genre to which Power Rangers, Kamen Rider, and other shows belong). Power Rangers suits(both official and unofficial) often fall into one of two categories in my experience. It's either very light and disconnected from the suit, or heavy and entirely covering the suit, like an Iron Man expy. I went for an in-between with Max's suit, where the armor is present enough that it can take some hits, but still roomy enough to allow for ease of movement. His left arm is more heavily armored than his right, since he needs his right arm to swing his sword. His left arm has the big, heavy gauntlet for channeling magic and forming constructs.

The bodysuit is a little loose on Max, like the rest of his clothes are. The gem in his chestpiece was always an integral detail for me, and I really like how it turned out. White and gold is a baller colorscheme, and I made the white glossy in order to add some variety in the textures.

I'm really, really satisfied with how this turned out. I hope that you guys like it, too!

Also, @Qwuazzi said that "his armor is basically assless chaps lol"

I mean, I'm not wrong.

He looks really cool dude! I really like your armor design, and I think the shine on the armor looks really good.

I know, I love it

Thank you so much! I'm really happy with how it turned out.

The armor is pretty cool, white and gold are always a safe choice! Just a little error in his front version you've mixed up the arms armor (magic glove on right, guard on left)

HeartisttheArtist responds:

Aw, goddammit. Chalk that up to me not paying attention!
I’m glad you like it, tho! And you’re right, can’t go wrong with white and gold.

Looks good

HeartisttheArtist responds:

Thank you!
