So, here's Lan and Mayl when they're out of school. Lan's got a design that screams "rebel," which fits his nature. Believe me when I say that any potential resemblance to a certain character in a certain rhythm game was by pure coincidence. As for Mayl, I gave her a design that highlights her outgoing personality while adding a sense of adventure to her. It fits considering her expanded role in ReInstalled.
