^ ^ This little critter here was inspired (mostly) by spinosaurus. 

 It's name is a portmanteau. 

(Additionally, this piece doubles as the first appearance of Garnet.)

Though simple, I still like how this piece came out.

About the Species:

Spiraptor 

 (Spy-rap-tor) (plural: Spiraptors)

Metamorphosed from: 

Metamorphoses into: 

Element: Neutral 

A raptor-like spirit creature. 

Is incredibly fast and strong. 

Fairly analytical in nature. 

Has raised ridges along its tail and head.

Out of story information: 

- Is effectively a combination of two dinosaurs: Deinonychus, (one of several creatures previously used interchangeably with velociraptor), and Spinosaurus, a ridge-backed dinosaur that could eat Allosauruses and was possibly larger than T. Rex, but not by a lot.

(Science marches on.)

- Speaking of which, Spiraptor is currently the only dinosaur-based spirit creature.

- Although Spiraptor has some "dragony" traits, it is not itself a dragon, nor draconic in nature.

-Size wise, Spiraptor are close to Deinonychus in height, but are not nearly as long, especially in the tail. The body structure and texture, however, leans much closer to Spinosaurus.
