Mogunetudon was the 9th Gori Kaiju to appear in the Spectreman series, featured in Episodes 15 and 16: Massive Earthquake Levels Tokyo" and "The Retaliation of Mogunetudon". Mogunetudon is also among the many resurrected Kaiju in Ep.27, "Titanic Battle- Seven Giant Monsters".

_Appearance and Abilities_

Mogunetudon was another Hybrid Gori created, crossing a Mole and a Catfish, because Mad Scientist is on the Prowl.

It release a stream of either hot (or explosive) black smoke from its mouth, which engulfs everything in fire; with its claws it could burrow its way underground, as well could use these to hit his enemies; It had the ability to produce massive Earthquakes, but with its part Cat Fish, the Monster was capable of swimming and produce tidal waves with its Earthquake attacks; The lower head would use its mouth to bite. Finally it was able to recover from its wounds by feeding from the Rocks and Minerals in the ground.

Its cry was that of a wail – similar to those of Biollante would later have.

_History_

The beast first appear in the countryside in a field test by Gori, causing a small Earthquake that killed one man and left a survivor; Gori then plans to unleashed its full potential of the monster on Tokyo itself in 6 hours. Later, George calls Kurata at his residence, interested to set out to investigate (really suspecting all is Gori's doing), though the Chief is all nonsense of his again, wanting to investigate the Earthquake. George travels to the countryside to speak with the Survivor, then follows an officer to the site of the Epicenter, looking at the crater left behind, when he notices Giant Footprints leaving the hole and across the valley.

As plan, a massive Earthquake strikes Tokyo, causing devastation across the city; as Kurata and the others try to get to the chief's home to get his family, his wife and Son are stranded in their residential building, with it been torn apart, separating mother and child. To make matters worst, Mogunetudon emerges and heads to the Kuratas' Residential Building: the group reaches the building as Mrs. Kurata was seeking help. The Chief goes up the shaking structure to rescue his son, when Spectreman arrives to face the Monster.

In the ensuing fight, Spectreman is able to hold the Monster down, smacking it repeatedly, and though it comes close to be pin down by the beast's heads, Spectreman uses Energy discharge, then fire the Monster with its rays, hitting it in the right eye, forcing the Kaiju to flee the scene, and Spectreman fall to the ground, reverting back to George; he then gathers with the others and to helps save Kurata's son.

Immediately, Mogunetudon, after feeding from magma and rocks to recover his strength, re-emerges in Tokyo Bay to continue its onslaught, provoking a tidal wave. George asks Overlord for permission for Transformation, but denies it as he is still recharging from his last battle. The tidal wave breaks into the disaster zone, causing more destruction; Kurata, his wife and group run to higher ground as George rescues the Boy. With the area now flooded, Otto and John find a rowboat and rescues the two of them without getting their feet wet and reunite the child with his family. George then takes the boat to face the Monster, though he falls from the boat when trying to (siiiiiiiiigh!) Hit it with a Paddle.

Facepalms the world over, I know.

Afterwards, Overlord transforms him and Spectreman and catches up to Mogunetudon, though the Monster deliberately burrows away, much to Gori's fury and appears on the Residential area again, where the two giants fight. Spectreman tries to hit it with rays, but this time, Mogunetudon is immune to it, acting very nonchalant to it. The Cyborg then hits him with a smoke bomb, blinding it, allowing him to smack it a few time, dropping the Kaiju all over the place, and finally finishing it off with Spectre Flash(???), destroying Mogunetudon, much to the ire of Gori.

Suddenly, and in one of the MANY instances that Overlord uses his God like Powers – that HE NEVER USES AGAIN – he reverts the entire damage to the city, making everything back to normal – even reverting time and erasing memories of the incident, because it wasn't a natural Earthquake that destroy the city, soooo...

There is Suspension of Disbelief – but EVEN for 60s/70s Tokusatsu - that ending was just pushing it if not (AND NO DOUBT WAS) lazy writing.

Months after its first Attack, in the 27th Episode of the show, Mogunetudon was among the many Kaiju revive by Gori to test the strength of his new creation, Silver Robo; The Monster emerge from the ground as Silver Robo fought Baronsaurus. The giant Cyborg threw the Monster next to Mogunetudon, who proceeded to fry Baronsaurus with its Fire breath, then try to face Silver Robo, but its flames had no effect on it; Silver Robo then finish Mogunetudon off by decapitating it with Arm Blades.
