Dinosaur Great War IzenborgNo14 - Tarbo and Sugora

Share

Tarbo the Tarbosaurus and Sugora the Stegosaurus were 24th and 25th DinoKaiju who appear in Ep.14 of Dinosaur Great War Izenborg "Counterattack! The D Squadron is Burning in Anger".

_Bio and Abilities_

Tarbo was the first Monster to appear in the episode, attacking Tokyo, though this was brief, as he was a diversion to dragged D-Squad for the real beast of the Episode, Sugora, and was able to retreat with its life after its brief confrontation with the IzenOne, making it the first Dinosaur to survive the encounter with the Izenborg till the end of the series. Its only abilities where burrowing underground, it was strong enough to lift a building with its hands and used as a club to bring down JSDF Jets.

Sugora was the 2nd DinoKaiju in Ep.14 and the 3rd Stegosaurus to appear in the series and was the principle Monster from the 2nd half onward of the episode after the IzenOne went underground to follow Tarbo as it return to the Dinosaur Empire, in which he faced IzenTwo in the meantime; its only abilities seen were spewing a yellow smoke from its mouth, burrowing and using its spikes as missile; at one point the tip of its tail is cut off, and it proved to be useful as guided missile going after and grappling around the Izenborg Tank – it was able to release an energy discharge.

_Story_

Following the attack on the D-Squad Base, Ururu and its master sends Tarbo to attack Tokyo, destroying everything in its path, at one point using a building as a club to take down squad of Jet fighters, swatting them like flies. D-Squad is deploy from their newly rebuilt base arrives to face Tarbo, seeking payback for Dinosaurs' last attack to their base, after a brief confrontation, they taken him down (and I'm not joking here) by firing the IzenBalls onto the Tarbosaurus' crotch (ouch).

In pain, Tarbo retreats underground, but before IzenOne could go after it, Torii intervenes and has a new missile probe fired from the IzenTransport, it follows the path of the tunnel, hoping to find the location of the Dinosaur Empire – IzenOne follows the probe and Tarbo while IzenTwo stays in the city. As the villains realized IzenOne is following, they launch the 2nd attack, this time with the Stegosaurus Sugora, and IzenTwo is left alone to face it.

While Ippei and Barra try to do their best, they are tail smacked by the beast and crashed, damaging IzenTwo and wounding Ippei; Barra carries Ippei as Sugora follows them, taking refuge in a subway, but are trapped by a dead end of Debris and rubble; the Monster then begins to jump over the site trying to bury them under more debris. Finding out of their situation, IzenOne abandons the search and returns to the surface to save their fellow pilots.

Quick Rant: where were was the Izen Transport in all of this? All that drama in Ep.13 wanting a piece of the action and they do jack shit here, except firing the Probe Missile and making ONE pass over Sugora, but that's it. Or better yet what about those Special Pilots (Hayabusa and Matzusou from Ep.7)?

Izenborg shows characters that are extensions of the D- force, but they rarely use them after one episode. Now I'm up to Ep.14 at the time of writing this, and I hope to see them later, but this a very weak ass thing to do. I can assume it falls to production costs, specifically animating the cast beyond the main 5 characters – Torii, Zen, Ai, Barra and Ippei, 6 if you count their pet sloth that hangs around in the Control Room.

Sugora fires its spikes at IzenOne then smacks with its tail; the Siblings IzenCross into the Izenborg-Go and escalate the fight with the beast, by using Folding Cutters to severe spikes and tail; however, the latter flies after their super tank and grapples around it and release an energy discharge – the Izenborg then flies to the stratosphere where the high altitude freezes the tail, shattering it. Izenborg then comes dashing back to the surface for the kill move, cutting the monster down with the Folding Cutters. Sugora falls dead and explodes.

Later, the Professor tell the group they were able to pinpoint the location of the probe's last transmission to an island off Japan.
