Sir'en's Stew

Share

Well, now that I've gotten the previous two worldbuilding posts out of the way, the time has come for me to post some of the actual art that I've made! Most of the ones in my backlog are of varying quality, and this one is certainly no exception, but I still want to showcase/archive them here. Anywho, let's get onto the subject matter here- The Matriarch of Aqu'arion, Sir'en! (and her pet nonopus, Wil'bur.)

Sir'en is many things, but three of her characteristics are much more prevalent than others.

-She's very wise.

-She's a phenomenal cook.

-She's a bit of a hoarder.

Being one of the more experienced Aqueans around, she's the one most of the village folk come to whenever they have a dilemma. Aqueans, at heart, are very non-confrontational and have a tendency to put aside any sense of urgency when it comes to burgeoning problems. Sir'en, despite her relaxed demeanor and lifestyle, shows plenty of compassion and inititative towards any questions folks come to her with. What else can I say? She's a wise old lady, and while there are older and wiser aqueans around, she's the one people find the most approachable. However, her wisdom isn't the only reason folks frequent her hut...

Now, you're probably asking, "CapitalE222, what is in that giant, shiny cauldron this water lady is stirring so intently? It it a soup, or a witch's brew of some sort?" And to that, I would reply first of all, you can call me Eric. It's the name in my bio and I'm fine with people using that. Secondly, your first guess as to the cauldron's contents is correct! It is, indeed, soup! No witch's brew since magic doesn't really exist on Crux, aside from the existence of elementals. Anyways, let's get onto the soup. It's highly regarded as one of the best things on Crux... As well as one of the worst. There's barely a time of day where Sir'en isn't slaving over this thing, and while she's doing so, she's constantly tooling with it, adding and subtracting ingredients, fiddling with the heat beneath it, and adjusting bits and pieces of the process every which way. Due to the broth's mercurial preparation, the stuff never tastes the same way twice. Sometimes sweet, sometimes salty, sometimes phenomenal, sometimes... minestrone? Why she cooks this isn't exactly known, especially considering elementals don't need to eat, but they can still taste, and coming over to sample the flavor of the week is quite an incentive to visit her for some. Not to mention, perusing her hut's ample collection of curios.

The thing about beaches, besides the fact that my favorite thing to do on them is digging giant holes, is that things often wash up on them. When Sir'en isn't making soup alongside her good buddy Wil'bur, she's combing the beach for shells, driftwood, and trinkets she can display in her home. She usually accepts barters for them, as the local population uses them for their own art projects, which have amassed to quite the varied collection in her abode. She loves using them to decorate, showcasing her favorites and even going so far as to renovate her home with some of the scrap parts she's amassed over the years.

All this goes to say that Sir'en is the beating heart of the Aqu'arian community. She's hospitable, kind, and makes some damn good food. Also, I was able to go through an entire description about a chill water lady without saying she "goes with the flow".

P.S. Since the art portal doesn't take sketches, I'm gonna hide the backlog I have of those in some of these wordy portions. Considering this picture is somewhat related to food, here's a drawing of Schnitzel and Chowder I did a couple days ago.

P.P.S. Here's a little something extra, too. :)
