Ran into a bug where once I fight the wolf any other animal I attempt to shoot ignores the QTE damage as if I missed, and the normal shots from the bow won't deal damage past their 50% mark.

Beyond that the game is pretty promising. Love the atmosphere and overall feel of it. Would have benefitted more from being informed on how knives are used to interrupt moves before having to hover over them in combat, after buying a lot and noticing that my stock vanished immediately.

The lack of QTE damage is not a bug my fellow adventurer, the Aardwulf receives damage because you cut his tongue, but while the other animals don't get damaged from it they fail to attack you and get stunned for a few seconds instead. ᘛ⁐̤ᕐᐷ🗡

But perhaps you mean that they were not getting any damage while attacked as if guarded! I'll add an extra check to make sure it is gone after the encounter just in case.

I'll see if I can come up with a way to help give a better understanding of what knives do early on. (Settled on changing the description at the merchant for something more helpful. Already live! )

Game has great music, great interesting pixel art, even the game world seems interesting.

But this game fails in gameplay and controls.

When ever I found a weird monster I would just die.

The wolf is ridiculous I fought one for nearly 5 minutes and seems is impossible to beat without items since your crap bow barely does damage and so does the special attack.

I dislike the controls as well with key press, would prefer if it was mostly controlled by clicking in mouse instead.

I would prefer if the game was a more like a typical turn based RPG.
Where you would get stronger with time and get better equipment and level up, since your main weapon becomes absolute crap when you face stronger enemies.

I would like an RPG system similar to Murloc RPG which is one of the best done turn-based RPG in newgrounds.

In this game you don't get stronger you just ran out of items and the less items you have the weaker you become. Its too reliant on items that your main weapon.

I did not understand how the totem system worked.

I was by far the most inexperienced part of the team so many design elements are a lot more experimental than the art deserves, my decision to not compromise the atmosphere with stopgap visual aids ( Status icons, extraneous combat information ) made the game harder to tackle, which needed to be offset in other ways that should had been explored further.

Going forward I plan to place more importance on tutorials and exaggerating visual tells in monster designs.

For the Aardwulf, you can't beat it if you don't cut his tongue as he just bites your arrows out of the air. Every time you hit it without cutting the tongue an S prompt should show up to give you the opportunity to.

And the totem system works by giving you boons (Buffs) and small hexes (Debuffs) with every piece you make. You can boost your health, damage, attack speed, each choice offset by a corresponding hex that will only affect you once its icon is bright red.

After you make 3 totem pieces, you can finish the totem by choosing a head which will unlock a new and powerful skill.

I didn't set out to make a typical RPG with this game, but thank you for visiting Forest Shack, your feedback is noted. ᘛ⁐̤ᕐᐷ✎❑

This is such an amazing game, I honestly can't even describe it. The art-style, simplicity of the gameplay, and the music? Oh my god the music... 10 Shacks outta 10!!! Whole team deserves a lotta praise for it!
