Reviews for "Specter Knight"

I did enjoy the graphical content, the gameplay, the amount of upgrades and mobs but the game is way too easy if you choose to focus on magic.

Also the third boss is bugged (he keep walking on me without attacking me and blocking all my attacks)

UknownXL responds:

Thanks for the feedback!

Realy nice game! Thank you for making it!

@Feraly Fighter: in the Pause Menu you can access your skills and re-assigne the Throw Bomb Ability.

I'm writing this review after playing the game for around 40-50 min.
I really like the idea of "no tutorial". You figure everything out yourself, which is something that not many games do nowadays. This game draws a lot of inspiration from The Legend of Zelda and has a nice art style. Now, let's commence the trashing of this game!
--Combat--
The combat system is neat but leaves much to be desired. Fighting gets really boring fast and a lot of enemies are just redrawn dudes that are a bit stronger. Very few of the enemies are UNIQUE. Sure there's a few mosquito's that shoot grapes at you, but what about the bandit for example? He's stronger than the derpy jumping eye, but he still just walks at you and swings his sword around like a drunk. To sum this up, I really wish that at least most of the characters had patterns, strengths and weaknesses. Maybe i just haven't gotten far enough into the game (btw bosses are amazing luv u)

Spells are boring. They're just boring. The only way i can describe them is 'Press a button, HIT A DUDE'. Here's a FUN spell idea, how about a spell that makes you run and attack faster, at the cost of taking more damage for a bit? That would also go along better with the idea that enemies had patterns, like mini bosses, but weaker. That way, fighting enemies would be more of a challenge than walking up to them and pressing space every once in a while or taking steps back. There are a few cool spells though, like the spell where you summon a skelly to fight with you.
--Levels--
The levels really remind me of A Link To The Past. That's really neat and all, but the only obstacles that you can find are just enemies. No traps, no puzzles. Nothing. Just rooms that are slightly bigger or slightly smaller. Yeah there are those "lever doors". But they just need more time to open, not effort. I was also really disappointed to find out you can't use bombs to blow up walls :(.

---Verdict---
I don't know what i'm doing trashing on a free flash game. It's definitely one of the better ones out
there. But there's still one more problem. THE FACT THAT THIS GAME ISN'T EVEN A ROGUE-LIKE. Roguelikes feature perma death. This game features restarting from level 1, WITH ALL YOUR UPGRADES AND LEVEL. Either fix this "issue" or fix your description, cuz this ain't no rogue-like.

In the end i still played this game for about 40 minutes. And despite completely bad-mouthing this game, I enjoyed it. I'll give this a solid 4/5. Since this is a FREE FLASH GAME. Real cool game, real cool.

i liked everything except for the combat - i should be able to swing the sword at will, not just when in contact with an enemy. this combined with the clicking to move made it very difficult to use any kind of finesse and it felt like i was just blindly exchanging blows until i got a few more spells and abilities.
its important for the combat to develop over time, but i dont like that it felt turn based rather than real time

You can just sit in the start of the room and spam blizzard/firestorm/stone fall/stone shield and it will kill enemies even if u dont see them. I just maxed spell power and finished the game with no time ^^
Overall its a good game, but this is just hilarious and serious issue.
