Reviews for "Boss 101"

On the first round i was already able to go for 100.000$ bosses. Needless to say, this lead to every boss from this point on being dead within a few shots.
Concept is good, but yeah- it's just too easy.

DarkTimmy responds:

Yeah - in hindsight the game is a pretty easy walk on the early levels for a decently and high skilled player. I hear yah and mos-def this will be addressed on a sequel. As I was making the game I had it tuned so hard at one point that you would get one shotted or rammed and be done. Needless to say I cranked that way down and spread out the ramp up over 101 levels. Hard mode does address some of that but yah - can't argue that a good guy will burn through 30 levels easy. Thanks for the comment and the play though! Best, -Tim

It's fun, but becomes way too repetitive.
The main flaw I see is that the powerups don't seem to work along with the upgrades you purchase, as if they did fixed damage. By the end of the game, only your fully upgraded gun and the fist launcher thingy are usefull, the rest are like penalties. I found myself dodging all upgrades on levels 90-100 due to that.

DarkTimmy responds:

Thanks for the play and the comment. I'm glad you played as long as you did and I think you are making some very valid points. The game certainly is tuned to be on the easy side at all times. I think the upgrades as you mentioned can seem to scale a little oddly (they do actually scale though which may surprise you). Some of the guns are just not as useful at higher levels due to their intended nature (pistol was originally for money and at higher levels you need less money). All in all I learned a lot on this game and the feedback from everyone is SO helpful. Thanks for the comment again! Means a lot to me and I appreciate you taking the time! best, -Tim

Nice, original concept, but pathetically easy. I killed every boss before I got any sort of idea how they attacked or what the fight had to offer. I think the main problem is that the player earns way too much money and upgrades early on so that the bosses don't stand a chance.

DarkTimmy responds:

Agree! I think I was a little loose with the upgrade and money situation. In the end the game might have been better served with a little harder powercurve! Glad you played an got some fun out of it! Thank you for the comment - means a lot to me! best, -Tim

la verdad esta bueno pero le agrgaria mas cosas mas sprites y demas esta muy beta ke digamos la verda le doy un 2 porke parase un demo

DarkTimmy responds:

Gracias! The next version will be bigger and better (more sprites and animation). Thanks for the play and the comment! Best, -Tim

Level 38, and still no challenge. I don't have to evade boss bullets, I just keep firing at the head for like 10 seconds and that's it.
Lack of balancing makes this game a waste of time. And that's a pity, because assets are really good and I like the concept of randomly generated bosses.

DarkTimmy responds:

Thanks for the play and sticking in there. I see what you're saying and realizes after the game was done it can seem quite imbalanced for a skilled player. I'm looking at what can be done going forward and mostly it comes down to addressing these issues in the sequel. I'd love to revisit Boss 101 since i love it but my time will probably be best spent on a sequel with some possible twizzles on Boss 101. I do appreciate you taking the time to write! Best, -Tim
