Reviews for "Seven Jumps"

Didn't play past level 2. Sorry but what I did play was basically a waiting game and was not fun to me.

I keep pressing up arrow to start but the guy just hits his head or something. Too bad, I was kinda looking forward to playing this.

You lost! Lol

Original graphics and musics do not make a good game. I am sorry but this game, mechanics-wise, suffer from extremely important flaws that make it frustrating, not challenging. Challenge imply that something is hard but feasible. Your game is instead dependant on the game feeling merciful on you and giving you a non-impossible combination.

The problem is very simple: you are to jump to the top of the screen with randomly spawning holes and constantly respawning enemies. Individually, they are not a problem. Together, they cause frustration quickly due to a very simple fact:

Often, it is flat-out impossible to avoid them.

The holes spawn randomly and demand very specific movements to avoid going down. Enemies always go to the right, as fast as the player can move, and respawn endlessly, creating a barrage.

The problem is simple: your only way of avoiding them is to run. Jumping is useless ; every jump not clearing a hole result in your banging your head and becoming stunned. And while stunned, an enemy can also stun you, leading to chain reactions.

So if the game wants you to lose, which is often later on, there is nothing you can do about it ; all you can do is run from the holes but if enemies are in the way, you have the choice between dropping down... only for the enemies to follow you and force you in the same dilemna or get hit, at which point the holes will catch up to you, dropping you just in time to be caught by more holes or stun-locked by more enemies.

In the end, you are not in control of the game, skill having no impact. You win if the game give you a lucky combination of holes. Else, you just drop back to the bottom.

And this, ultimately, make the game frustrating. Because the game is basically a luck-based game disguised as a platformer.

The platform and enemy movements are masterfully designed to be as frustrating as possible. Sadly, frustration is not a good experience. Absolutely unenjoyable game. Half a star for the nice art and music.

Could be a fun game, but It's a little annoying that the moments right before I go to jump the game decides to lag and I end up smashing my head on the platform above me...
