Reviews for "Owl (Book One)"

Excellent work ( whens part II come out???)

ITs only too bad you put this story up on newgrounds where it wont be apreciated as much as it should. I think you should go into childrens book writting and make quite a bit of cash. The story was really well thought out and i found myself really captivated by it and was annoyed when the story didnt finnish and i had to wait for part II! Seriously go and publish a book like this it appeals to all ages (more so kids but adults can still get into it i recon) it'll sell for sure.
keep up the good work

Virgilcomic responds:

Hey, thanks. I'm currently looking into publishing, so wish me luck! And I'm not promising when part II will come out, but I've got the story written, and hopefully I will get it out sometime in October.

ok dude

great story! way WAY too long though. make it read by someone and more like a movie that just pages. thats just me. great job though. i gave it a low rating only because its super long and probably longer than the attention span of most NGers. lol. o well. great job dude.

Virgilcomic responds:

You're probably right about the attention span thing, kryptik. It's an unfortunate fact. :\

great story

this is great. it makes a really good story and its nice and long. it leaves you hanging like all good storys :/. and its really good in a story sort of way. the text is a bit small tho but thats about all. just pickiness from me. well cant wait til part 2 :)

This is excellent!

I love this! This is one of those things which you don't see every day! I love the whole layout and the ilustrations. Those are what makes this so good! The sparsely animated objects do help, although they are too far in between each other. Also you could add more interactivity and maybe some clickable Flash objects and are animated. Also helpful would be some sound and/or music. This is one of the better Flash pieces I've seen on Newgrounds, and it would be a shame if this got blammed to its grave, or removed for some other reason.
This is the best non-violent Flash on Newgrounds!

Virgilcomic responds:

I really appreciate your review, I-croft. I wanted to comment on the reason I didn't want to do too many animations. I thought originally of doing a cartoon, but the story got too big, so I decided to do it as a storybook. But when I made the storybook, I didn't want it to be tacky. And I thought I'd rather err on the side of too little music and sound and animation, and make the user use their imagination, than put too much into this flash and make it tacky. I'm a much better illustrator than animator, and I'm pretty sure that's what would have happened. :-p . See ya, I-croft.

Beautiful.

You just don't see this type of thing on NG. It's great, just great. It starts to degrade towards the end though: You keep repeating yourself if you know what I mean.
Where did you get your story from? Did you write it yourself or is someone else doing it for you? Did you have any kind of inspiration?
I can't wait for the sequel. Whatever will happen to poor little Owl?

Virgilcomic responds:

I wrote the story myself, and Adam Tierney helped me start it all off. He wrote most of the Sun and Moon part. As for inspiration, I would mostly list my life, but also a great many number of books, too numerous to mention.
