Reviews for "Quietus II"

the geysers seem to make the game a little choppy but besides that a fun game

good game <3 it

it lags at level 9, cant see what i'm doing, it responses a few seconds later but then i'm already dead.. because i cant see where i jump, i'd really like to finish this game, maybe you could fix it, because it is very awesome :)! I like these kind op simple yet challenging platformer games!

Thanks anyway, it was fun playing till level 9. Bye

Maybe try dimming the lights? That button on Newgrounds that gets rid of the ads--it should hopefully speed up.

A couple of things I found while playing:

The game is REALLY laggy. I doubt it's my computer since I can run any Flash games and alot of conventional 3D games. Some bits are actually really difficult to complete since you can't time stuff properly.

The entire game is too fast paced, slowing everything down a little would really make the game more enjoyable. In my opinion, the current speed is just stupid. When you fail, you fail because there is no time to react more often than unforgiving map design, and when you succeed you sprint through the game at such a rate it's all over in minutes.

The walls and the background are so similar that I found myself bumping into walls where I first couldn't see any walls. That kind of level design is a very cheap shot at adding difficulty to a game, and makes gamers feel dumb and irritated.

You can just walk straight through those little worms when they are placed on the ground, as there is no hit detection between them and the player and they never have time to bite you while running through them.

The music should in my opinion have been either of a higher standard than the low-fi MIDI track, or some kind of retro 8-bit/chiptune track. The current track feels very basic as it contains all the clichés of cinematic orchestral music.

Overall it's a challenging game, with quite a rudimentary story that doesn't show up at all in-game. Though the lag issues may or may not be of your doing, they certainly didn't help the overall score.

ConnorUllmann responds:

-If you're having lag trouble, try pressing the "lights" button to turn off ads. I haven't been having trouble with lag, and I definitely don't have a powerful computer!

-The intention behind the game is to be "too hard." This game, as with the original, is aimed at hardcore gamers who want something seriously challenging--the sort of people who will play it for a long time until they get to the point where they can beat the game in no deaths (which has happened). If you're finding the game too difficult, it's not because the game is too hard, but because you don't like the style of game (like saying a puzzle game "too puzzley" if you get my meaning?) No worries though, I don't blame anyone for pointing it out!

-The wall-color/background-color issue wasn't something purposeful to make the game harder--in fact, I'm surprised about this. I do see what you mean though, although I haven't had any issues with it (I came back to play the levels well after making them, and I wasn't having issues differentiating. Might be my monitor settings are too bright?)

-The worms will kill you the majority of the time you walk through them. They are generally used to keep players from standing in place for too long, not as a hard-set obstacle like the chain balls.

-Sorry you don't like the music! Generally it has been regarded as one of the highlights of both games, but I guess it doesn't work for everyone!

Thanks for playing!

This game its really awesome, it's simple but it's kinda hard, i always loved the pixel games.
The music it's also awesome, the music go so well with the game, sorry for my bad English, but i have to say that this game it's simply awesome.
