Reviews for "Trigger Knight"

Great idea, but still flawed

I love this game. The concept of it rules and it's pretty addictive. It keeps you on your toes and the fact that you yourself don't have to fight is great and keeps this game away from repetitive button mashing, which is always good. My only qualms are that sometimes the exact item you need isn't coming next, and so you lose not necessarily because of a bad decision but just because a decision made at the wrong time. And, as noted before, you don't make money quick enough to be able to upgrade or even buy items you need at a consistent pace. It's annoying when you're ten gold short of buying an elixir when you're almost dead and the next monster kills you with one strike. Other than these small problems, which could easily be fixed in any sort of sequel or even a patch, this is a wonderful, exciting, and original game.

>.<

too short and no story but its good mm i guess 5/10 is good

Perfect game

This is the most addicting thing since Canabalt. I can't believe it only got daily 6th. This deserves to go on the front page.

People complain and make suggestions about how this or that enemy is overpowered or how you should be able to do this or that, but they don't understand how finely tuned this game is. The average gamer doesn't know crap about this sort of thing and their ill-conceived tweaks would just ruin it. The idea of something being overpowered only applies to cases like fighting games when all the playable characters are supposed to be equal. So it doesn't make any sense to say an enemy is overpowered. It's not necessarily supposed to be as powerful as you or as powerful as any other enemy.

Yes, I would agree that it's about 50% luck but that just means it's so perfectly balanced between luck and skill. Luck has always been an important part of gaming. Without an element of luck there wouldn't be an element of risk. This game is all about choosing between the safe bet or the dangerous one that pays off. Paying 500 gold for a gold ticket leaves you pretty vulnerable since you'll often have to forego healing in order to save up for it and you may not find any more healing items for a while afterwards. Someone suggested a warning system for when a dragon is coming up, but that would eliminate a major risk factor. The divine edge is only good against the dragon, but without it you may go up against one with full health and an elixir and still lose. So there's always that tough choice of whether or not you should buy the divine edge. I've found that dragons are generally preceded closely by Grim's shop so you might even take that as a sign that a dragon might be coming up.

Like Canabalt, the randomization engine is tweaked just right to provide just enough of a chance and just enough of a challenge. Also item costs, item powers, and enemy stats are all at just the right amount for a challenging and fun experience.

I've found that a good cut off point for the soul shrines is 30% life span. If I have more than that, I won't pay for the life, but if I have less than that I will. It always worked out that way. I got 6th place in the high score board and may try for an even better score.

Great game

The atmosphere in terms of graphics and sound reminded me very much of the game Valthirian Arc. I actually thought maybe you were the same person who made that game before I checked your account. I do enjoy this sort of old school look :D
I felt that gameplay included too much of a random factor, and while the one click rpg concept is interesting, there is kind of a balance issue. The game also lacks a central element of most RPGs - namely, story. I understand that this is mostly kind of a minigame, but I would love to see it made into a full game with story, some improvements in terms of gameplay so that player strategy is more directly related to success, and maybe some options in terms of difficulty levels.
Also, seeing how playing the game can be kind of repetitive, maybe some sort of stack advantage to replays could be considered? Like, how well you did the last time around gives you a bonus the next time you play.
Thanks for a fun, interesting little short. I will look forward to seeing the full game!

Man this is cool !!!

Killing dragons not easy even after u get handle of strategy for itens and money, but still awesome game, and siple, mayb thats a good and bad thing too, it is too repetitive to get all achievements I had to over and over same gameplay, it does change but is also tryck cuse makes luck about 50% of the success rate in this game, cuse if I did not save money for ticket I would b too weak to face first dragon, and sometimes ticket did not even come at all, wich made probably impossible to beat the dragon, anyway having to go over and over the game made me c how to beat it, but the prosses is quite tiring and my eyes r ablur,

Still awesome consept the song and the graphics rly gave a hero like feeling.
