Reviews for "Random Heroes"

well done chap

Very enjoyable game, the bad guys and levels were a nice mix of castlevania and Mario. I had a good time

Nice.

Great game.

Easy but good.

I personally think that the game was great. The whole retro feel, the color, the theme. Yeah it was easy but fun. Probably a upgraded version with a tad more difficult. The upgrades just a tad more difficult and that should do it. But again, the game was great as a whole.

Keep it up!

Small things that bug me

The game as a whole is good. Things tried to kill you, you killed back. Good formula. The issues I have with the game are how easy it was. The upgrades were easy to afford. The first 2 things i bought were the money upgrades, then after that was the final gun. I had no progression with any of the other weapons. I also felt that health was too often avaiable in the levels.

Another issue I had was with the characters. What is the point of having unlockable characters if there is no replay value to pick another character. You could least after each boss brought it back to the character select so you could go through the next act as someone else.

Finally, my biggest issue with the game was the Achievements. They were there just for the point of having achievements. I got them all aside from the character achievements on my first play through. Achievements can really lengthen the time spent playing a game, and I felt no reason to play after I beat it.

My suggestions for next time. Have the prices for all the upgrades and weapons higher, so after beating the game once, I should not have everything. Have achievements mean something. Like beat the boss without getting hit, or maybe beat the final boss with the first pistol. Finally, have characters that are unique and offer different gameplay. Maybe a guy who can run, or someone who can jump higher. Shoots faster, dual wield, or can take another hit. (Dual wield for final unlock character). Stuff like this will give reason to players to keep playing after beating the first boss.

Nothing wrong with it...

but it feels like you're trying to recreate that retro game feel. If so, having a set number of enemies is not how you go about it. You ever play an SNES game? If you run 1 inch to the left, when you go the inch back to the right, a new enemy has spawned in the same spot! You can't give an inch of ground without first advancing!

Your game was WAY too easy. The upgrades were a breeze to afford, and health packs were overabundant.
