Graphics and presentation were outstanding, giving it that old 8/16-bit feel from the old days. The music was nicely fitting for the stage themes; really loved the action paced tunes in the boss and final boss stages. Stages had a wide variety of design, keeping it non-repetitive. The humor was also quite entertaining.
The ONLY problem, like everyone else says, are the controls. The jump is too floaty compared to the slightly sluggish walk speed, and levels with traps at every corner are a nightmare as a result.
However, I'm still giving you 5-stars because this is your very first game, and it's 3 years old now so there's not much point complaining about it. Besides, the following projects you've done are magnificent, with huge, nicely playable varieties of puzzle platforming gameplay (e.g Heart Star).
