Reviews for "Guild Dungeons"

Nice

I Have to admit, i've wanted a game like this for a LONG time, thank you for making it, the only thing is you need saving and a way to deploy all units at once if you want. other than that it is AWSOME
:D

My mouse hates you, yet I can't stop playing!

Very well done game, with some minor bugs, for example, I had enough resources to buy gnomes but it wouldn't let me, I bought a pig farm and suddenly i can buy the 300 gnomes i wanted, so no big deal. Anyway besides the save function that is really needed but you already exposed your reason for it's inexistence, the game needs a better way to buy buildings and even buy or sell resources, this game is capable of killing any computer mouse!
As a function i would probably like if you are thinking of creating more games like this is to know your army's force and the enemy's army force after you fought him, because I had a pretty nice army and it got defeated and I had just done a dungeon with almost the same difficulty and was sucessful.
All and all a great game, hope you create many more interesting games as this one.

Hyptosis responds:

Yeah, I havn't quite figured out the gnome thing, you can fix it by simply leaving and coming back, or buying 1 of any resource required for the gnomes. I'm looking into fixing that bug right now actually. Thanks fo rthe feedback, I'll work on it.

Nice!

Nice game. I appreciate that it was a bit of an experiment but I was a little upset that nothing happened after I beat the final mission :)

Hyptosis responds:

Haha sorry :P Grats on beating it though! ^_^ There really isn't a story so I didn't really know what to put at the end. :P Next time I'll show some strippers or something. ^_^

Needs Work

This game is based upon a workable concept, but is clearly not ready for prime time. I appreciate that you view this as an experiment, and would like to congratulate you on developing a fairly complex, well drawn, and interesting game! I liked the different personalities and skills of the leaders, the detail you put into the weapons and armor, the fact that we could compete in different environments requiring different strategies, and the balance and interconnectedness of the units. In terms of the gameworld, I thought you succeeded at developing buildings and structures for the city, and thought that you did a great job creating an entire planet to explore. Unfortunately, the game is basically unplayable because of a few simple issues that have already been discussed by other reviewers.

Sorry to repeat what others have said, but:
1) There is no save option
2) The economy is not well-balanced A)some things cost too much, others cost too little - the costs make little sense B) Some resources are acquired painfully slowly, while others (like wood) can be obtained at ridiculous speeds.
3) Trading is far too annoying to deal with. Trading one resource at a time means that you will have to trade for annoyingly long periods just to balance out your resources. If you could trade 10, 100, 1000, units at a time, it would actually be workable.
4)The pace of the game is too slow overall, and shifts from your character being weak to being able to command massive hordes (if you are willing to spent an hour trying to trade resources) without any real sense of accomplishment.
5) Resource gain from expeditions was too low. Instead of relying on questing to get gold etc., you use your industry to fund your jaunts around the world. Is questing your job or your hobby?
6) Researching and upgrading worked fairly well (I personally would have liked to have seen domestic upgrades as well), but the limits of applying these upgrades to quests (cost, weight limits etc.) hurt my enjoyment of the game.
7) There is no story. There is no point to the game. This is an RPG, and while freeform is a good thing, pointlessness is not. If you included a storyline (no matter how elementary) it would help people "get into" the game more than they do.
8) There are bugs (as indicated by other reviewers). They should be fixed.

Normally, I would give someone who was experimenting a higher score as I appreciate the amount of effort and creativity that went into this project. I gave you a five because I felt that this game really should have been playtested before you submitted it. That being said, please do not interpret my low score as me saying that this game sucks. I think you made a good and promising effort, but that this game is effectively incomplete.

Keep up the good work, I hope you keep making games.

Nice, but clear lack of testing

The game is nice, has a good simulation vibe. It let's you be the mayor or lord over a city/land.

However, it's obvious that you didn't playtest this, because there were some glaring faults in this game.

No Music, boring.
Markets were on a 1 product piece basis... Buying 5000 iron sucks. There is no need to subject players to this.
Same goes to building hovels and recruiting knights, it took ages to get 10.000 knights.

Also, learn a bit about economics and abitration and you will realize that your prizes are really, really weird.

Tips for other people, that partially has to do with the faulty economic system:

Sell your gold for silver, buy lumber mills with that silver. Buy hovels with the wood. Having 25.000 people is ridiculous and your income allows you to mass buy knights. Game over... if you have the patience to click so many times...

Hyptosis responds:

lol, okay, I'll go take some economics classes asap.
