Reviews for "Hood Episode 1"

nice

Awesome game!
Please make second part!

Hyptosis responds:

Thanks, I likely will!

Pretty good,..

The game itself was pretty fun, with a good, original storyline. The one thing that annoyed me was that when looking for some items, such as the sparrows egg, finding them wasn't logical. I was looking for a nest, or a hole of some sort, rather than a bush. But a good game, looking forward to the next one.

Hyptosis responds:

Lots of birds lay eggs on the ground, the game even says that it isn't a sparrow's egg (who use trees) but alas, thanks for the feedback. Sorry the egg was too hard to find.

great art and story

Great game, and I hope the next one is out soon! I enjoyed Alice is Dead, and this one is just as good to me.

Some improvements to consider - I had a tough time finding the ingredients to make the man sober (mainly the cricket). Perhaps if the creature gave more of a hint (crickets find rest under furniture) it wouldn't have felt like mindless clicking. Also, the text that pops up near the bottom after every time you click an item - it was a bit maddening to click "close" after each time. Perhaps you can make the text box disappear if you click anywhere?

Again, really great game and story, I look forward to the sequel!

Hyptosis responds:

That's weird, a few people have mentioned the cricket, but the girl even talks about the cricket under her bed in the journal. I don't know how to make it more clear, I would have thought the egg and the candle would be the hard ones. It's always a surprise to find what people have trouble with. ^_^ Also you technically don't have to click close if you don't want to, but yeah, hindsight shows that was a poor design anyway. You can still click though, with it open.

Thanks!

Great point-and-click!

There were two reasons why I didn't give a ten out of ten: the first is that it was annoying that you had to do everything in the right order. If there's an egg in a bush AFTER you talk to someone, then perhaps before then you could say "blah, blah, blah, bush. You see an egg in there, but can't think of any reason to take it;" the second reason is that this seems extremely similar to Alice is Dead. Instead of being a weird and confusing version of Alice in Wonderland, though, this one is a weird and (most likely) confusing version of Little Red Riding Hood, byt way of M. Night Shyamalan's "The Village" (oh, she wears a RED CAPE! That girl must be evil!).

However, the art was flawless as ever, the puzzles made sense in that they were all based on superstitions, and the writing was good. I hope this ending sucks less than Alice is Dead 3, and look forward to the next chapters.

This game is an amazing piece of work, but I feel as if the items needed to progress were hidden beyond just the spectrum of plain sight, making it harder (and at times, extremely frustrating) to progress through the game.
