Reviews for Sonic VS ??? Unfinished

SO short.....

...even for a test piece. Have to say though I find it kind of sad people do not upload their test or beta content to Dumping Grounds so people can give feedback on what they think should be done rather than uploading it to the flash portal where it stands a chance to survive but will most likely end up blammed in the end due to shortness, annoyance, bugs, etc.

It is not awful bad for a start but given as it is at the moment you have no real idea of what to expect in the future and there is no back story to it either. Really hope the finished project ends out well though considering that even though this is a few seconds it looks alright anyways, it is just the idea and fact that this is short and leaving too much of a plot hole and many other things open.

For a few seconds the animation seems alright. Sonic's shoe and leg seem to have some details on them but shading would help and the field and skies look alright I suppose. The it goes right to the screen saying versus and bother versions of retro Sonic leaping at each other too. You just have to wonder whats going to happen anyways.

The music was alright I think. What was it called anyways? Music and the first two or three seconds of this are good though.

Overall, needs a lot of work but ok for a few seconds. A preloader and play button would be nice so it does not loop over and over again.

One thing I liked about this was that even though you used sprites, you hand-drew the shoes and other parts of Sonic at close-up. Even so, it's not that good, but it's worthy of finishing.

The animation: Well, there was nothing to say about this, was it? Just some two Sonics standing a distance apart from each other, a close up of their shoes each, them colliding, and a coming soon splash. Not exactly good for a trailer, seeing as you have to include more action, y'know? I understand it's unfinished, but that's no excuse for a poor trailer.

The music: Uhm. The music only plays up to a point, and it's not that bad really, it helps build up tension about the seemingly "epic" battle between Sonic and ???. However, that's just about it.

The story: There's nothing explained as far as I can understand here. All I know of currently is that there's two Sonics battling between each other. There's nothing else revealed, maybe that was intentional, but for me, that's not very good. I know almost nothing about this in terms of storyline.

The problem is, you shouldn't normally upload tests to the Flash Portal. That's the reason why Tom introduced the Dumping Grounds, so that people could put their files there and get feedback from other fellow artists. Probably you did this on purpose, but I'm betting that the chances are slim, and you probably didn't know about the Dumping Grounds before.
Anyways, continue it if you want, it looks pretty okay so far.

It might be good

The problem is that you should not really submit tests to this website. It might not be so much of a test as a preview (as the title suggests) but it's still an incomplete movie and it doesn't cause much anticipation. I think it's kind of obvious who is going to fight Sonic in this. I believe it's another version of Sonic. A pity you could have not had the character shadowed or anything. I think this actually wouldn't be that bad of a full flash.

The lines drawn aren't too bad, but the spritework needs more. It seems like you could make this better by having a lot more action. I will always regret never knowing how to give a submission a "Replay" button so I can't criticize you for that. You should look into someone who knows more to understand it. It's a bit too short for a preview too.

Well, you sure got something there, but wasn't that way too early to post?

I mean, I'm pretty sure this could be good in the future, however, until then, develop it some more...
