Reviews for "Hunters - Stage 2"

Could've been so much better.

Aiming and shooting NEED to be controlled by the mouse because when you try to aim left or right you move that direction too and it really screws things up when you're trying to avoid badguys. Graphics weren't bad but they looked really... bland to me. Even the voice acting couldn't save this game. The cave rooms were super boring in both layout and appearance. That's as far as I got because of the squirrely controls and it just pissed me off too much. Might have had something here but, what can I say, it was poorly done.

Every game doesn't need to be mouse aimed

HUNTERS GENERALLY:

I still don't get what's the big fuzz about the graphics: even if they are simple I think they work perfectly. I think the animations in the cinematic scenes are also quite nice.

What I actually understand better are the complaints about being able to shoot only in the direction where one is walking towards. Sometimes that can feel frustrating, but that's how these kinds of games work - for example there are still new incarnations coming for the Contra series and they still work in this manner. I wouldn't want this to have a mouse aiming scheme, since those games have a totally different feeling to them, and this kind of a control scheme isn't just unambiguously inferior.

Still, there are things to consider to improve this kind of a "classic" control method too. For example there could be a 45 tilt button so that one wouldn't have to constantly move when firing diagonally. If I remember correctly Super Metroid for example already had these kinds of controls. Secondly: if there are bosses or other special situations where the enemy is constantly on the other side the controls could change in the way that one couldn't shoot in the wrong direction.

STAGE 2:

I think the second level was more repetitive than the first one. Fighting all those animals and avoiding those spikes got a bit tedious - and the turtles were annoying. The challenge level was still good - not too easy, not too hard, although I think I prefered the bosses of the first level. That's why I'm giving this a lower score than what I gave to the first stage. Let's see what the next one will be like.

2 things.

good:1.good intro and wepons.
bad:2.a little 2 hard and bad voiceover and where did the gient last boss come from?

meh

coulda been better, a bit repetitive consiedering it had the EXACT same format as the last one. humor was ok, controls need improvement, graphics of determining bg from foreground were better than the last, still don't get why all the hating, so it's classic nes style platforming action shooter, g.t.f.over it.

Similar to first, with some interesting twists

Responsive and friendly controls. Good difficulty level.

The new weapon is handy for slow heavy monsters, which means the old weapons are still handy for regular situations. A nice touch, would be curious to see where this weapon balancing thing goes.

Plot/Dialogue could use some work, but getting more interesting because of the humor, the characters and their interactions kinda create a princess xena-like comical mood for me.

Sound fx/music was excellent, I actually stopped for a minute to enjoy the track in the windy area, had a nice rythm to it.

Graphics-wise I enjoy the facial animations, they convey most of what's needed when the dialogue plays out, the quality of the character drawings needs some improvement, but it doesn't really get in the way of the gameplay, which is the most important thing imho.

Overall I'm enjoying the series and think it's a good way to pass time and get a few grins. Looking forward to what comes next.
