Reviews for "Echoes: Act 1"

A few problems

First thing I would like to say is that the cutscenes are way too long. The tutorials are also quite long and tedious. The voice acting is ok, could be better, but the dialogue lags sometimes and doesn't sync up with the voice making the cutscenes unecessarily long. This game doesn't really feel all that original to be honest; I felt like I was playing some kind of Halo and Starcraft mashup with cutsie graphics. Some of the voice effects sound like the ones used for Protoss and the Hybrid are basically Zerg. DEM is easily a mix of Chief and Jim Raynor. Needless to say, the game has potential, but has a lot of flaws and some issues with originality.

Dragy2005 responds:

We've been getting this a lot. It's funny how it turned out, because honestly those weren't our inspiration sources. But I'm not trying to convince you or anyone else anything. One might consider something original while the other sees it as a complete ripoff. It's a pov thing. I'm sure we'll manage to stand out better in the next act, revealing some more details about the enemy faction in Echoes and about the main characters.

Thanks!

The Good, The Bad, and The Boring

This can be split down pretty easily into the "positives" (things that gained you points) and "negatives" (which lost you points):

THE GOOD:
- attempt to have a side-scrolling RTS
- ability to 'command' other troops on battlefield
- graphics (not great, but not terrible)
- variety of allies, enemies, and maps
- survival mode

THE BAD:
- in-game music (you don't lose points for this, because it can be turned off)
- voice acting
- dialogue takes up half of the in-battle screen
- story too reminiscent of a few current Triple-A FPS games
- poor layout of controls
- allies are incredibly stupid

Honestly, the troops that you are allied with couldn't win a fight with a brick wall.

Overall it was an okay game. It wasn't anything special, but it's not awful.

Few problems

The games was pretty good. Had a few things that bugged me though. One being the people talk way to much and it gets annoying. Also in some parts the game was extremely harder than i felt it should be. Alos the controls are annoying. Either the screen wouldnt stop moving or wouldnt move at all. Besides that it was great game and I likes it.

great concept, but

great concept, good work and care for details, art, and sound but...
...you forgot key rules in your game design. The game pace is incredibly slow for a flash game, and with continuous dialogs / tutorials / history it's hard to keep players interested enough time to enjoy all you hard work here. My opinion just fix some timing and mix events, pace up, and you got a great game.
keep all you hard work ;D

boss

its insanely hard and when u get the girl as backup who is anoying as hell it becomes near impossible to hit the boss
