Reviews for "Insert Coin: Pico N' Me"

no that good...

it looked good, and smart thinking but te game isn't that good...

Torrunt responds:

Care to explain what you didn't like? Games can always be reviewed upon and then improved.

Doomed to repeat history

I never thought that through all the advancements I've seen in the realm of computer technology, especially in relation to video games, that people would clamor to play games that are essentially Atari games. Sure the graphics are far superior, but the object of the games are the same; just swap getting as many points as you can with try to get as far into the game while dying the fewest amount of times and you've basically got it.

This game isn't exactly like the other games I'm referring to, but it is an example of how a premise can be stretched so thin that the point of playing the game becomes moot. All you do is run around shooting the purple guys with the KKK hoods on till you destroy their spawn points, go to the next room and repeat the same process. Nothing is more frustrating than trying to jump to a platform where 3 of the purple guys are all camping a spawn point (never thought I would be saying that about a side scrolling action game, but...) and your jump leaves you hovering in the air for so long that each jump is bringing you one step closer to your death.

You can dress up your game however you want, but if the game play isn't there, then it's going to fail. Still, the score as it stands at the moment of me typing this review is 3.18, so I guess there are a lot of people visiting this site that love games like this. Shows what I know.

Torrunt responds:

Just because we have better technology doesn't mean the old formulas aren't still fun. We weren't try to make something totally innovative, just a game that people can get some enjoyment out of. Yes, they can get this same type of enjoyment elsewhere in many other games but this is our version and Pico themed one at that.

Those purple guys that are 'camping' are just standing near their spawn because they don't see you yet; once they do they'll run towards you. Just lure them away from their spawns and rush back and destroy their spawns before they come back.

Thanks for taking the time to review our game.

Not good

It has really just terrible controls to the point where you just can't stand playing any more. Any game where you can get crazy frustrated by not being able to hit just one stupid worm or dog thing, whatever those are. It's impossible to shoot anywhere that's not directly in front of you. There's no powerups of any kind, from what I saw, or health or any kind of changes. You just hold the button when a door across the screen and sit there and wait, and question why you're still playing this. It was just really bad all together, and not much fun.

I'm not trying to troll or bash or anything, and I'm sorry, but I just didn't enjoy myself with this game, and thought it wasn't as good as it looked in the previews.

Broken

I cannot get past the first room. I can kill all the enimies in the room, but it still will not allow me to go through any doors. It is also nearly impossible to kill the small creatures when the start to attack you.

Torrunt responds:

I think i heard of that glitch happening once before, come to think of it i think it must relate to the the glitch where people fall through the ground; the enemies might be falling through too!
A lot of people say it's "too hard" or "impossible" to kill those worms but it's really not, it's easy. I placed them in a position in the first level in v1.1 so easy that all you have to do is tap down and shoot and they all should be dead in a few shots total. For others times just jump up to a higher platform, they can't jump high at all so they can't get you.

FUN FOR A BIT BUT!

the controls were awkward ass hell, slow animation, the doors re spawn one after the other so its near imposable to get an edge up and the game play it's self is generally unfriendly on top of all that the response time to the controls is slow as hell.

Torrunt responds:

I don't understand what you mean by "slow animation", care to clarify? I've never heard of anyone having any problems with response times either.
For the doors, i find it really easy to destroy them and take no damage from the guys spawning from them if i just stand in front of it and shoot. This kills the guys before they have a chance to shoot me and the 3rd higher bullet normally misses them at hits the doors (if not, move back more). I did this technique on the 1st level and i lost no bars.
I think it would of been good to have some sort of tutorial level where it tells you the controls and good ways to deal with certain enemies, maybe next time though.
