Controls + unforgiveness = impossibility
I enjoyed the game for the most part. The controls, however, was what made it not so fun. Trying to perfectly hold the up or down key to get that shot at the door, while jumping and trying not to be shot at the same time can get rather tedious and annoying.
But, I would have forgiven this if I received any form of forgiveness from the game itself. No checkpoints, no full health items, no powerups to weapon. I can understand if you wanted to keep this simple, and if only one of these two problems were resolved, the game would be much more playable. However, the combination of difficulty trying to hit the baddies, as well as going all the way back to the beginning of the game if you died, along with the fact that the, like, 5 cakes you find in the game only heal approximately 25% of the health bar. It's really quite a bit too much stacked against a player.
