Wow... This one really nice.You develop new a gameplay(I never play a game that you can't shoot but can fight back before). and one thing the upgrade price is too high(like you said).May be use a minor upgrade instead of Max out one.

This was genius :) I loved how you made it so the enemies are practically attacking themselves ^_^
Maybe if there were moving levels or something like that, it would be a fair bit more interesting.
