Reviews for "Forever Samurai"

Neat concept, impossible controls

Decent art, and I like the idea (reminded me a bit of the Ninja Gaiden game for the DS, but with a mouse). But the fact that the mouse is used for dashing in addition to attacking is problematic: you dash constantly when you don't mean to, and sometimes dashing doesn't work properly at all. Every once in a while you do something cool on accident, and that's neat, but I feel like I have minimal control over combat. This ruins what would be an otherwise excellent package for me.

The rest of the production values on this are stellar, however, and I hope you keep on making games to improve on this model in the future.

acrazycanadian responds:

It's unfortunate that there is a very distinct group of people who just can't click without dragging the mouse. Perhaps I should have put in an option to change the minimum slash distance, but that probably just would have confused more people than helped.

rlly good

well im not gonna right a big review like the rest of the ppll cuz i got only a few words to say.

its a rlly good game and i liked the finall boss.. the red small guys that block were harder than the fat ppl with the big maces or w/e XD.... any way great game hope to see more like it

acrazycanadian responds:

I will accept your few words, good sir. The Oni (big mace guys) were harder originally, but a lot of people couldn't figure out how to hurt them at all, so I ended up toning them down.

Nice

I dont know how u got it to be 3-d but frankly I dont care. It was awesome. The sound effects, the music, everything.

There should have been more of a veriety of music and an awesome final boss song... but that doesn't matter.

10/10, no sh1t. Great job and keep it up.

acrazycanadian responds:

How it got 3d? Magic.

Unfortunately, even magic can't make music files small enough and people bitch every MB that gets added, so as much as I'd have loved to put in more music it wasn't really an option. Also, there is a boss song, did it not play for you?

very well done with a few problems

Not all flash games seem to have had as much effort put in to them like this one. the art is amazing and the animation is fluid. i really like the game play and the okami like gameplay works well. i have a few gripes though. i do not like how jumpy the camera is. i dont want to always have to scroll the screen but when ever i jump or do a sideways special move it would. i also felt like the levels were kind of forgettable. i mean, dont get me wrong, the giant dragon thing in the background is very cool and as ive mentioned, the art and animation is great. i just wouldnt be able to tell level 1 from level 2. these complaints aside, i really loved this game. the forgettable level design just made me want to stop playing. i also found it somewhat repetitive. Great work with this game and i can't wait to see what you do next.

acrazycanadian responds:

That's fair. Level design get tiring, I confess I can get a little lazy with it. It's also difficult to balance out good fighting arenas with platforming (people get frustrated pretty quick if they get knocked off a platform or whatnot). As for the camera, well, it has to go somewhere. One day maybe we'll have computers that read our brains so it will go exactly where we want it, all the time ;)

I'm glad you liked it anyways.

well

The game is very well done I thought... its just not my type of game, but I wont judge your score on want games I like or not.

acrazycanadian responds:

You are an extremely reasonable person and a shining example of why I love Newgrounds so much. Any other site and people would just say "This is shit why would anyone like this trash" and rate it 0. But here? Here people actually appreciate one another. It's like some sort of miracle.

Stay classy, NG.
