Reviews for "Forever Samurai"

Pretty Kickass

Reminds me of Straw Hat Samurai (using the mouse for sword strikes), but I definitely appreciate the use of WASD to move. Overall, this is a really good game, with awesome art design, upgrades, and a still relatively unused mouse-driven-attack style.
I do have a couple complaints though. First, when you start engaging in more intense fights, the camera moves around too much, often setting off unintentional dash attacks. With such a precise attacking system, you need to be aware of how the camera will affect things. Second, the game is too short. Yes, the upgrades add replay value, but overall, the game takes 15-20 minutes to beat, and I'm not sure I'd play it over and over just to get more powerful moves. You have an intriguing story, so build on it to allow for a longer game.
Otherwise, this is a damn good standalone game, and I look forward to seeing how you build on it in the future.

The camera does not affect the slashing system, but I can understand how you might be unintentionally compensating for it. A fair point.

It's cool that you think it's got an intriguing story even though I left the story out ;) That bodes well! I'd love to expand on it in the future.

Very fun

Very fun but the fun wears off after a little bit. Though the replayability is great.
Anyways, one other thing I don't like is the controls. It's a great idea but sometimes when I just wanna do a normal attack I end up dashing seven feet to the right or left and it gets really annoying after a while. Also, the 3d objects on a 2d side scroller is pretty disorienting. Otherwise, it was really fun.

acrazycanadian responds:

Well, all you gotta do for regular attack is click. It's hard to make it simpler than that! You don't even need to target things, just keep the mouse in one spot and click. Still, enough people are having trouble doing that I'll have to deal with it somehow in any potential sequels. Brainstorming time!

are you serious ???

this is the best samurai game I have ever seen !!!

acrazycanadian responds:

Seriously serious. After all, the internet is serious business.
I am undeserving of your praise, and just happy to please my fellow samurai enthusiasts.

Remarkable

Remarkable XD

acrazycanadian responds:

So remarkable that you remarked, and I remarked in return! Remarkable!

Forever running right...

Really cool concept and I enojoyed what par t of the game I could play, but for some reason my samurai would move without me pressing anything, most of the time to the right. I turned down the graphics and everything, though it made me sad to do it (It's a really good looking game), but he still ended up running into enemies and walls. Maybe a glitch? Maybe it's my computer...either way I just wish I could have really played and enjoyed this amazing looking game.

acrazycanadian responds:

I have seen cases where the samurai will keep running right on his own. Unfortunately I have never managed to fix it. My apologies. I think it generally happens if you click off the screen, so if you try playing again and focus a little extra on where your mouse is, you might have better luck.
