I currently hold the high score on Armageddon (922, where second place is 527). Here are some of the elements of my strategy:
-Max stats on everything except health upgrade (25) and gravity launcher upgrade (15). Also special weapon booster is 0 because it is useless on Armageddon. Don't upgrade any weapons either.
-Spend most of the time shooting in quick bursts of 3 of the blue weapon. That seems to maximize your base damage without draining too much energy, and 3 blue weapon hits in a row will push most enemies back pretty fast.
-Primarily target the enemies that shoot at you, especially the ones that shoot those big fireballs. Know which enemies shoot and which don't, and also remember which ships make big explosions or singularities when they die. Dodge as many shots as you can.
-Try to keep enemies from getting through--you don't lose if they get through but try to keep the center clear so you have room for maneuvering and dodging. However, sometimes it is easier to let the big absorbing ships through rather than wasting specials on them.
-Use specials and weapons other than the blue weapon only when you need them. Especially, use them to destroy the fireball shooting ships (those things are deadly). Never let a fireball shooting ship get past the edge if you can help it. Drone swarm will kill the big fireball shooting ships instantly if you set it off directly over them, otherwise you can use singularity, or some combination of nuke, antimatter, golden projectile, and/or implosion. Shockwave is most effective if you use it just off-center on a _small_ ship, aiming to collide the small ship with other ships.
-Only trigger singularities towards the edge of the map and be careful not to trigger 2 at once on the same side (that's how I died).
-Save overdrive and dimensional shift for when you need them (overdrive if you're low on health, dimensional shift if you're low on health and don't have overdrive or if you're about to fall into a singularity).
