Reviews for "TCT RPG"

Good game, I really liked it.

Only thing I didn't really like was that enemy's seemed to just pop out of nowhere and attack. However, with the games great story, characters, sound, and gameplay that's something I can easily ignore.

EARTHBOUND!!

wow wow wow! what do we have here!!

earthbound fans will definitely love this game the very moment they fought their first flower! even the encounter theme, u have faithfully recreated (although a la vocals lol). there are definitely parallels everywhere with the game we fondly love and remember (the monsters, house, roads, interaction, even the somewhat sarcastic narration!), but instead of feeling that this game is copied, u have actually infused enough of your own elements such that we feel like we are playing a eartbound, but we are enthralled by it!

i've only just started, so i don't know what the later parts will have in store for me. but i just have to write this review to say how excited i am about it!! (is singing similar to the function as praying in earthbound? ;D)

neat controls, nolstagic graphics and music, this game is definitely a wish-come-true for fans like me, who are hopelessly in love with earthbound ever since we played it, and have been praying that we would get to play it someday again.

original, sorta

it resembles the game Nightwatch quite a bit though. Loved it either way.

Really Addictive Game and Great Story

I really liked the plot of the story. It was reminiscent of the "1984" novel by George Orwell in which a similar society exists so I caught that reference on the billboards in the game. I really, really like the fantasy elements in a modern setting and I think more RPG's should be heading in that direction. The boss fights were interesting but very difficult if you don't know the weak spot. The final boss in particular had a ridiculous amount of HP. I didn't think he would ever die. Also, characters should be able to learn their own skills on leveling and not just rely on the flowers. Chadd kept Therapy Slap throughout the entire game and I wanted more skills at his disposal. I noticed through using Bella's Thunder and Hydro Wave (that I taught to Bella) that enemies have elemental weaknesses. However, the Thunder skill was very unreliable as it would randomly hit and miss targets. I don't know if that was the intention but that should also be corrected because it doesn't make sense that physical attacks can never miss but spells do when it's usually the other way around. I appreciated that there were no random encounters in this game which is great because some of the dungeons/areas were particularly large and I would dread crossing said areas if there were random encounters every 2 seconds. I liked the characters a lot as well. They were realistic (until towards the end with some melodramatic RPG dialogue) and amusing. I wanted Bella to have more of a voice than simply adding in snarky remarks here and there but I actually didn't not like her character. She definitely improved towards the end of the game as well, not just as a party member but as a friend. However, some positive interaction between her and Chadd would have been nice too. Another thing I want to point out was the battle music. It was so-so on its own but you used the same music even for bosses. I thought the last two bosses of the game, if no one else, deserved their own themes. When it came to battle gameplay I thought it was original but I was kinda iffy on the attack meter. It wasn't until near the end of the game (shopping mall) that I noticed that you can click twice in the bar, once in both blue zones, and I noticed my attacks went from 50's to 90's instantly. The tutorial should have brought that up because I didn't figure that out until much later. A smaller issue, the map in the main menu was a little inconvenient to use. I think the map should be put on a hotkey (enter key, m key, etc.) so that a player can instantly use it without having to scroll through the main menu to get to it. Getting money in this game is also a little weird. I noticed that even though we get money for killing monsters, you never get a value of how much you earned in the victory screen. Hence, I found myself grinding for exp only to find that after a while I was sitting on a practical gold mine of money that I instantly spent on junk from the vending machines (the non-homicidal ones) so that my party wouldn't always have to rely on IP for healing. Now to defend particular aspects of the game that pissed off other players. Chadd is NOT useless. He is a full-support healer with solid stats once he cathces up to the other characters in level. His magic may be a little weaker but it is still enough to keep a character alive and he can heal more times than Kyle because his spell cost less IP to use, even if it is only by one. Giving bosses a weakness is a good move but it's hard when you have to figure out what excatly that weakness is, especially when it is a non-elemental one (i.e a chair, the host, etc.)
The chair was common sense when you fought Mr. Pierce and if you think about the Alpha Vestitite boss, a parasite gains sustenance from its host. Kill the host, you cut off the parasite from the source it needs to live. In retrospect, they are common sense but a little heads up approach would be appreciated. Overall this was an epic game, a great RPG and I can't wait for the sequel.

Love the game but I'm stuck after killing the stop-sign :( I am for that little town, quite leveled now and I've read some comments on your youtube-video of the game, tried everything but there's nothing I can do to continue!! :(((
